Knob pickup mode?

Is it possible to control Sylenth1's knobs using value pickup mode? I'm using a BCR2000 with Ableton Live 7. Now, when assigning a midi-cc to a knob, it reverts to the controller's value immediately, resulting in unwanted -steep-parameter changes...
Is this possible in version 2.01, or should i wait for a future update?

I'm not sure what you mean exactly. How do you assign the midi-cc to the knob? Do you use Sylenth1's MIDI learn function for that?kloosterj wrote:Is it possible to control Sylenth1's knobs using value pickup mode? I'm using a BCR2000 with Ableton Live 7. Do you mean you want the knob to link to the controller only when the controller reaches the knobs value or something?

this may be a silly question but it is somewhat related.
i have a paltry oxygen 8 which i would like to assign the knobs to sylenth functions. it isn't really working as desired though... i'm not getting the "grey-out" of the knobs which the instruction manual said would happen.
i have clicked the "midi learn" and have the midi setup properly. strange.
help? thanks.

Are you using FL Studio by any chance? FL does not send MIDI controller data directly to the VST for some reason. You can however use the FL menu in the upper left corner to link parameters to controllers. Please check your host manual for more info on that.hojoland wrote:this may be a silly question but it is somewhat related.

Well just open the MIDI map mode and start assigning you controller knobs to the parameters of whatever you want. There should be a mapping list on screen too, which will let you alter how the mappings work.
Any decent control hardware would have a 'soft pickup' mode built in (or have rotary encoders, which would nullify the problem).
RTFM if that didn't make sense.

I have RTFM for both Ableton and the Sylenth... I can get the "pitch" and "modulation" wheels to control Sylenth faders (ie - ASDR, or volume) but cannot assign the 8 knobs to anything. It won't properly assign, and yes I have both Ableton's "Edit Midi" and Sylenth's "Midi Learn" on.napalmbob wrote:Well just open the MIDI map mode and start assigning you controller knobs to the parameters of whatever you want. MIDI learn value pickup will be available in the upcoming update.
In that case it seems to me Sylenth1's part in this is working fine. Have you ever managed to get those knobs working on other VST plugins? I'm not too familiar with Ableton myself, so I can't help you there. I think you'd be better of asking this in the Ableton forums.hojoland wrote:I have RTFM for both Ableton and the Sylenth... Sounds good Lennard... I appreciate the quick reply and I will try the Ableton forum avenue.Lennard wrote:MIDI learn value pickup will be available in the upcoming update.
