Hi !

MuLAB 2 is very impressive !

But what about graphical editing for velocity zone i the multisampler editor ? Ive to change the velocity zone for multiple samples, how can I do this ?

Post

Double-click a multisample zone, there you can edit the velocity range for that zone, cfr:

But i guess you know that already. For now, that's the only way.

Thanks for the replie !

Yes !

Do you plan to improve multiple editng ?

Post

How would you like it to be?

Post

It would be cool if we can resize verticaly the zones...

Post

The vertical direction is used to stack aka layer zones.

Can you find another way?

Post

very good , BUT i don't find the full version!!

Post

How do you mean?

Are you a MU.LAB Unlimited User?

Normally you should already have received an email then.

(though there were some 'undelivered' errors)

All MU.LAB Unlimited Users get a free upgrade to MU.LAB 2.0, as a thanks for their believe in this young project!

OK, I've made a exemple :

That's a nice idea 8)

Anyway, if i think a bit further on this, i've these thoughts:

When you want to define a velocity-range, that's 99.9% of the time because you have (an)other zones() which cover(s) (the) other part(s) of the velocity range i.e. for velocity switching.

In that case you have to be able to input the velocity ranges very precise, e.g. one vel-range goes from 0..63 the other from 64..127.

Now i think that it will be very difficult to edit in such a precise way if you only have such limited space per layer.

Even if the layer lane would be 256 pixels high (that's already big), even then you only have 2 pixels per value, which is too precise for friendly editing. You need at least 4 pixels per value to have a comfortable editing feel. Which would mean that a single layer lane should be 1024 pixels high, which is not realistic.

What's your opinion?

The multisampler editor's window is risizable so...

I like also a Kontakt style :

To be honnest, i never understood that this style of key/vel mapping (which is also used in Halion and others i think) is workable.

Now i just plugged in K3, and tried to do some editing in the mapping editor...

I don't get it :? It's too complex to me. I can't select a zone which is below another zone...

Also in K3, i tried to make a vel-switch between to samples, and though it looked ok graphically, zone 1 went from 0..75, zone 2 from 77..127

And besides this, you really have to focus the eye to see what's in there in K3's mapping editor, when there are a lot of zones, are they switching?, are they overlapping? etc...

Anyway, i understand your whish to have more direct control on the mulab velocity ranges.

Lets brainstorm some more over time, and hopefully find something nice and easy.

Just to throw a something in from a different direction into this brainstorm...

My favourite multi-sample editor is in a VST that I mustn't talk about. The nearest thing that I can talk about is sfZed. Select the range/collection of samples, the attribute you're talking about and say "spread". It's nice to be able to control "how" the "spread" happens. Flexibility to group samples other than by key or velocity would be nice. Multi-level grouping would be amazing...

Code: Select all

<C2-B3>
|
+--<Trigger>
| +--<Vel0-63>
| | |+-<sampleA>
| | \--<sampleB>
| \--<Vel64-127>
| |-+-<sampleD>
| \--<sampleB>
|
\--<Release>
   +--<Vel0-63>
   | \--<sampleA>
   \--<Vel64-127>
      \--<sampleD>
Under each sample, you then set the properties for that layer: start point, ADSR etc.

FYI: SFZ support will definitely come, it just didn't make it in the 2.0 release.

By the way, does anyone know where i can find a copyright-free nice multisampled piano? Want to include a piano in the library.

Th link eludes me now but there was a Piano called "Slpendid Grand" that was quite good. :)
