I see people all over KVR constantly ranting and raving about how amazing zebra is, but no one ever mentions filterscape! I've been demoing both for a long time (along with MFM2 ever since that came out) and just finally pulled trigger... On filterscape! The morphing EQ is just BRILLIANT and the VA sounds good enough to justify the price all by itself.
Mind you, a lot of it is probably that I like effects moreso than synths (with one reasonably flexible synth and craploads of effects I could get a lot more sonic variety than I ever could with just craploads of synths, plus I like effects on drums and guitar as well) and I definitely will be picking up zebra in the future after Zebrify/Zebrafy is added (so I can get an awesome synth AND effect) and probably after uhbik (you have no idea how excited I am for uhbik...)
Anyway, keep up the great work U-He, and thanks for filterscape!
EDIT:
Ok, I'm using logic 8 and for some reason I can only load filterscape and filterscape Q6 up as a midi controlled effect rather than as a standard insert EXCEPT when the instrument track already has an instance of one of the filterscape plugs in the instrument track of it. I can for instance load up filterscape VA, then load up filterscape Q6 as a insert, then switch the instrument to something else, but it is impossible to do that with a different synth. It works fine on audio tracks though...
EDIT2:
It looks like I can't use filterscape or filterscape Q6 on a bus at all without giving it a separate track an a midi controlled effect
EDIT3: I found the problem. There's no way to use any of the filterscape plugs as mono, which is what logic considers instrument tracks loaded with anything not outputting stereo, or busses not switched to stereo. That fixes most things, but a mono->stereo or just plain mono version of filterscape and filterscapeQ6 would be great.

hey,
funny to read this. i'm a filterscape user since it came out amd the VA is my absolutely favourite synth. it's dead easy, simple and together with the crazy built in arpeggatior it has a fantastic sound. if it were a hardware synth this would be, beside a moog my one and only choice
urs knows how to put the special magic into coding !!

Agreed - The whole bundle is great, particularly bearing in mind the price. I mainly bought it for VA - it's such an accessible and easy to programme synth, and of course Filterscape itself is cool and Q6 shouldn't be underestimated either.
Mart.

yeah, aside from one small niggle I've found with using filterscape and filterscape Q6 as inserts on instrument tracks on top of other synths, I'm loving it.
I bought it mainly for the main plugin though, not the VA. The VA is pretty nice though.

Hah! - Latest betas should fix this - Logic got a bit picky lately.MitchK1989 wrote:EDIT3: I found the problem. (I'm slowly catching up on my schedule, the long ago promised additions especially in the filter department are not forgotten! I'm also close to add a phase linear eq and stuff, but I have yet to see how these things pan out...)

I took the "found a bug" part out of the title because I found a fix: Insert any mono->stereo plugin in the inserts and bypass it. This makes logic just split the mono into two identical sides without actually wasting any CPU on the mono->stereo plug. I just used a direction mixer for it (which also works non-bypassed when you just set the spread to zero).
Anyway, with that easy workaround I can filterscape my guitar tracks to hell and back, and for that I am eternally grateful.
Keep up the good work, and I look forward to any new additions!

Is there a way to convert from .FXB to .Aupreset?Urs wrote:Guitar? - Then you MUST check out the Vernon Reid patches (in the patch links thread)!MitchK1989 wrote:filterscape my guitar tracks

Usually in Logic you simply press the Option-key while clicking on an empty slot, to insert stereo plugins on mono channels (and vice versa) - no need for a "workaround". Unless I misunderstood your problem....MitchK1989 wrote:Insert any mono->stereo plugin in the inserts and bypass it. If it's .fxp, you can just load them from Filterscape's internal browser...

oh, yeah, fxp. I didn't think of using filterscape's internal browser. I figured I'd have to move them into the presets folder somehow.Urs wrote:.FXB?!?MitchK1989 wrote:Is there a way to convert from .FXB to .Aupreset?Urs wrote:Guitar? - Then you MUST check out the Vernon Reid patches (in the patch links thread)!MitchK1989 wrote:filterscape my guitar tracks![]()

uhh. Where do I put FXPs so filterscape finds them?

You have to close/open the gui though... it doesn't yet have a refresh option like Zebra...

Oh. I thought that folder was just for .aupreset files.Urs wrote:MacHD/Library/Audio/Presets/u-he/Filterscape/MitchK1989 wrote:uhh. Where do I put FXPs so filterscape finds them?

the AU of filterscape still doesn't want to load .fxp presets.
EDIT: got it to work. For some reason I had both a presets/u-he/filterscape/ and a presets/filterscape/ and the vernon presets were in the latter.
These guitar presets really are great, especially for delays.
