Somehow it's hard to fit in all the hihat levels of openness. And then, there are only two toms... with so many drum libraries doing non-GM mappings I figured it wouldn't hurt to have one more. :)

But in terms of playability from the keyboard, I'm definitely used to the GM mapping.

Post

Yeah, there's no problem with the current mapping per se.

But I will be GM-ifying it. I'm working on it... Should have it in a day or two.

Hihats: Open stays open. Half-open is just that. Closed is under CC#4 control.
Toms: Either repeat them for the "missing" notes or pitch shift if it doesn't sound unpleasant.

It's the key switching I want to get right, though: with two sets of samples like this, it'll be something unique to be able to hit that "snares on" key and start playing the same keys and get a different sound...

Would be fantastic if someone could map these for Shortcircuit!!!
Well, no guarantees, but I think this is what you need for a ShortCircuit preset. I'm still learning my way around samplers. SampleTank has me spoiled.

If you're a fan of GM, forget it. Why have 9 different hi hats and sacrifice 6 for the sake of GM? For me, it's a logical layout, but it's fairly easy to move things around with the "learn all" function if you don't like it.

Thanks a lot for these samples. Can't seem to get the midi file anymore though.

Ah, okay here's a permanent link:

I've mapped them in RMV.
I hope I didn't forget any special things like filter settings and stuff.
It should work if you put the linked file in the map with samples and then use the import function from the kit librarian. (maybe greg could host this as well, it's only a small file)
All the samples and the kit will be imported (copied) into your library.

Maybe if the samples are already the search path for RMV it wont copy them, I haven't really tested that yet.

If you guys have any suggestions or comments, just let me know.

Do you mean you're mapping the Pettinhouse kits for SFZ? That would be great!

Post

actually i'm mapping the soniccouture one, and here is the zip with the sfz file and the keymap explanation...

http://www.speedyshare.com/135918274.html
no strange hostserver this time :hihi:
you must put it inside the sample folder, and have fun :D

it's nice coz there are some room sample and their amount is controlled by midi_cc, the effect is subtle but nice, and I hope there are no problem with volume...

here a little demo http://www.speedyshare.com/383726599.html
hope you enjoy it, feedbacks are welcome...

maybe i'm gonna map even the pettinhouse kit (it's a kind of mapping fever :hihi: ), and share it...

ps: i don't know if it's okay post this things here in this thread, if not sorry, :( :?
maybe it's possible to split the thread or something like this

Hey frollo thanks for your time in doing this! I've not come across the soniccouture kit before and look forward to trying it out!
Unfortunately the SFZ links you put up are not working here :(

That would be awesome if you get a chance to map the Pettinhouse kits ! These sound excellent!

frollo's SFZ for Gregjazz's kit is here:

Hopefully, in the next couple of hours (or so...) I'll have my more-GM mapping up close by.

<edit>
OK, done! Two mappings for the price of one. Hmm...

Again, thanks Greg for the samples. I'll be jamming with them today! :D
