I tried Sylenth demo and there was some "trance gate" patches, but I didnt find any parameters or how to change the pattern. At least I figured out that they're not using arp.
How to modify the gate effect?

It uses the step sequencer velocity and hold to create gating effects. You can use Step Velocity as a modulation source and bind any destination to it. The Gate knob in the Arpegiator can be used to set the length of the pulses. You don't have to switch on the Arp to use the gater.
Note that pretty much any modulation in Sylenth1 is additive, so if you want to create a gate on the Mix volume between 0 and 10, you need to set the Mix slider(s) to 0 and add full modulation amount to it.
