I mostly need sounds that are different from the sound aesthetic of Trance.
So I am planning testing the demo of 2.x myself but I am afraid I currently am not sure if I got the skills to program the sounds I like myself.
So if I am not getting the desired results I probably wouldn't be able to tell if it's Sylenth's sound signature or my lack of skills.
I made a few nice sounds with ES2 but am far from being able to realize any sound I imagine.
Therefore a judgement of Sylenth could be unfair.
So here's the deal:
I intend to post some sound examples and if you folks could pick a few and program something like it that would really help me making a decision.
Any other reader that likes something that he doesn't find represented in Sylenth demos/presets is welcome to post his examples here aswell.
I am starting this now with a few examples at myspace pages but of course these are low quality mp3s.

rough, fat bass synth (obviously pulse width modulated but it's really the fattness and roughness I have not yet heard from any non-analogue synth. the 112kbps mp3 is probably too low quality to take this as a real reference)

To avoid misunderstandings about the purpose of the examples I plan to post:

Tt is not my goal to immitate *any* track I like - because that track already exists and I want to create original music.
The important question for me is the sound aesthetic.
For example Trance has this typical polished hifi sound. And in most tracks I am looking for something different.
Electro House has a rough bassy sound, very dry but it sounds digitally harsh.
That is something that I don't like at all.
I do realize that many sounds I like are very often pretty simple.
I do also notice that many sounds I like are heavily processed and I suspect that the characteristics that I like are often due to effect programs/analogue effects.
I noticed that very often when you say "I love this sound" the actual sound itself is nothing special but it is the musical content, the sequences and chords that you like and the sound just fits.
Furthermore when you like the sound of a song, it is the complete sound of all sounds combined that you like - very often I thought if I had a particular sound on my keyboard it wouldn't be special at all out of the context of the track.
Last not least I do also want to express that it is perfectly OK that no one sound generator (hard- or software, analog, digital, or a digital emulation of analog sound) has to or can deliver everything.
My understanding and standpoint so far is that virtual analog synths can deliver cool pads and fat sounds when based on multiple oscillators but I was wondering since so many sounds I like are so simple -and I actually want to use those for my music aswell-, is there *any* softsynth that can deliver these? Probably Sylenth?
I have not yet heard any softsynth that can create a simple PWM or Bass sound (something like a SH 101) and it would really sound good when just playing a sequence and changing Filter Cutoff.
Something that does not sound like Electro House.
So I'm posting a few mp3 examples soon and we'll see if anybody can come up with a program or two for Sylenth. Have been searching an cutting all day.
If not I will very likely buy it anyway
because I know that it can do quite a few good sounds. Maybe not everything I need but certainly something that a talented person can use to create good music.
Sometimes it's important to be flexible. On the other had I still got my preferences soundwise so if anybody can convince me, Sylenth can do this too then bring it on!
What I want to know I guess, is if I try to create let's say these simple PWM sounds that I like with Sylenth and it doesn't sound like I want it to, will it be my fault or is it just not smart to try getting some particular sounds out of digital synth?
