I really like the uhbik fx. particulary the flanger and phaser. its been quite a while since ive demoed any plugs. uhbik made me do it, and that can only be a good sign.
im having a problem in Renoise though.
In the flanger (or any other fx that has a lfo ) if i load a preset that is synced to quarters, every time i press play on renoise the lfo is retrigered by the bar start. Which is as it should work (by the way i love the fact that the lfo lets you set the starting phase at the bar start),but if i change the speed of the lfo in the preset, the lfo stops being retriggered by the press of play in renoise.
Things get back to normal if i save the project in renoise and reopen it.
I think the zebra2 lfo has the same issues, since when ive demoed it, i had some problems syncing filter modulations. i can't guarantee this though since ive demoed it for some months now.
I cant really tell if this is a uhbik issue or a renoise one. But one thing i can tell though, the other plugs that have this very same lfo functionality (cakewalk z3ta / psp nitro fx) work without any issues in renoise.
And now something completly different; sugestions for the current plugs:
- A way to reset / retrigger the lfo manually. i assumed that automating the vst parameter that controls the start phase of the lfo would do the trick, but it didnt. at least in the way ive tried it. ive set the lfo to the
speed of 3 (in quarters) and ive set the phase to 0 and i want to retrigger it every 4 bars. what i did was to send a vst parameter automation to the phase knob with the value 0. it didnt work, the lfo wasnt retriggered
to phase 0 when the automation was send.
- if i resize the uhbik guis to any smaller size, the text labels get completely unreadeable. i really dont like the default size since it takes all of, my screen space. maybe the text labels should be a bit bigger in the small sized skins.
it would also be cool if you could set a default skin size. since the way it is, every time a load a uhbik i have to change its gui size.
And now something completly different; sugestions for future plugs:
- LFO in the filter.. i really miss that.
- Something i really think every FX should have is an input and output volume knob. it is REALLY usefull.
think that youve finished your mix and you realise you could use a certain effect in one of the tracks of that mix. when you insert that effect, the volume of that track will change. and youll have to correct it in the main mixer. if you later conclude that you dont want the fx you will have to go to the mixer again and readjust to the original volume. with an input and output volume knob in the FX you dont have to mess with the main mix. way cleaner.
