Ok so let's assume, and I stress the word ASSUME, That Traction has not been abandoned and maybe, just maybe, the developers are monitoring this board quietly. I know many folks here are having problems and many are not with T3 so we're NOT going to get into a bashing contest here or so and so a host is better than so and so a host. This is just for fun! I think I more or less fall into the latter category, not too many problems but I've simply outgrown it as it stands. I want more functionality and options. A better overall engine, individual track normalization, an improved MIDI editor, a vocal/wav editor, a 2nd mixing console window where I could compare the signals side by side rather than scrolling up and down the page and doing a lot of guesswork, and a few other items I'm sure I will come up with in time.

So what would you want, if anything, in any future releases ?

I can't see any need for "individual tracfk normalization" in a floating point mixing environment? what for?

Well quite honestly, I've literally lost count of how many times tracks have been sent to me that were recorded at such a low signal that they were barely audible. Track normalization would fix this. As it stands I'm currently importing those tracks into soundforge or wavelab, applying normalization, exporting them out and importing them back into Traction. Too many steps! Also it's a MUST if you want multiple songs to be of the same level especially in the mastering process. As it stands, we don't have that option right now. Granted i could take the stuff from Traction, put them into one of my other hosts that does have that option and acquire the same results, but again, too many steps.

Anyways, I'd like not to see this discussion turn into a "why do you need that" or "Traction doesn't need this" silliness (we have enough of those threads already)! These are the things I would like to see implemented if Traction was to continue. How about you? :)

There needs to be an option to separate out multi-take tracks to separate tracks.

Some more sophisticated way of imposing groove or swing onto MIDI quantization. (I'm speaking from a T2 perspective; I don't know if this is better in T3; I suspect not much). Back when I had Logic 5 for Windows, it had a function whereby you could analyze a piece of audio, basically extract groove information, save it as a kind of template, and apply it to MIDI quantization. I never really pushed that feature hard to test its limits, but when I did use it, it was kind of cool. Also, Logic had more options for degrees of swing.

Some way of doing something similar with audio.

No need for track normalization - you can just apply appropriate gain filters - another vol/pan filter will give you 6 db - there are other 3rd party plugs that will give you more ( Sonalksis free g has 18db of gain...) - this is of course non-destructive...

I want the T2 input arrows back. :)

Oh absolutely. This one of the major items I would love to see improved on as well. Also a smarter way for the program to read the plugs and automation curves (one of the main cpu resource hogs in Traction).

1. A simpler way for setting up send-effects/busses.
2. Gapless audio engine.
3. Optimizing masterbus (when effects are enabled on the masterbus, recording is not possible)

Zero latency sends/returns/racks would be a bonus too!

- Tempo/Time Sig changes should follow clips as you edit
- Dockable properties area: It's too limiting to only see properties for one thing at a time...what if I want to work in two plugins at the same time, or view audio clip properties while adjusting the track input properties?
- Every other wish that I have is just for the features that are there to work as expected: MIDI export, editing folder tracks, rendering in real-time should always work...

Back in ancient times, I used to use a sequencer called MusicShop. It had a very handy feature called "scrub". Say you have a dense cluster of MIDI notes and you can hear that there's a wrong note in there. "Scrub" allows you to hold down a control key and slowly "scrub" the cursor back and forth across the cluster until you find the offending note. I want this feature.
