I've got several instanced of Sylenth1 in a project. They have all been working fine, but now, after creating a new track, the arp box in Sylenth1 on one of the tracks is unchecked even though the arp is still working but its setting have changed (gone from one octave to two) so checking the arp box makes it go to two octaves

It sounds like the preset is using the Step Velocity modulation to create the gating effect. The step velocity is active even if the arp is unchecked. Can you send me the preset so I can see what's going on?

that just leaves the fact that the arp got switched of for some reason and it's octave setting changed
preset is 81 GAT Trancentral
that's one of the banks I believe

Maybe the arp checkbox and octave knob are linked to Midi CC/(N)RPN controllers or are automated in your track?
You can use Midi Learn to assing them to a different CC or use Reset to switch back to factory settings.

They are not automated.
As per usual.. it was user error (or user brain shortcut)..
When loading the original preset using Live my brain kick-started itself again and I realised the arp was never on. It was, of course, just using step velocity all the time, as Lennard explained. In my defence, Logic had been playing up on me so I was quick to blame it on software
