Hi Urs,

Is it possible to simulate/create a comb filter with just a 3-tap delay and feedback? How fast does the delays has to be?

Are you talking Uhbik-D? Of course you can set the delay taps very short, e.g. use shift-drag to tune them. A single tap with feedback will do.

However, nothing (at least nothing u-he) beats MFM2 for dedicated comb filter effects where the comb filters are musically tuned.

I read the Uhbik manual and thought of trying it out on my Dave Smith Evolver. Loving the experience with the Uhbiks. Simple and powerful. I'll try the MFM2 demo aswell. Is there a PDf manual or just the html version?

Well, there's only the html version for MFM2 currently...

MFM2 is a bit of a weird fella (many knobs...) but it's quite capable of pretty much anything a delay can do.

Yeah, comb filters only require 1 delay, not 3. Pretty much any delay can do comb-type effects as long as the delay time goes low enough.

MFM would be better for comb filters for a few reasons though (midi tuning of the combs, the 4 delay lines for multi-comb stuff, etc.)

The Evolver has Feedback Frequency, could this work the same as midi tuning if I map it to keyboard scaling?

I don't own mfm2 but I'll probably get it later this year. I prefer to have pdf of my stuff too, so I created a pdf for mfm2. I just sent it to Urs so if everything is alright with him I'm sure he'll post it on the site.

The combination of the tuned comb delays and the feedback routing in MFM2 make for physical modeling mayhem. I've got a bank of patches in the works (that will actually rely on a bank of Zebra presets) aimed at using MFM2 as an instrument. If only I could send Zebra's arp to MFM2 (hint-hint)...

I believe the feedback delay in the Evolver is tuned so that a value of 0 is C-2 and 127 is G8, if you set key range as a mod source with 100% depth the feedback should stay in tune with the notes you play.
