I am trying to load the SaxLab 2 demo onto my Receptor 2 Pro Max and I am having a little trouble. First, I created a SaxLab 2 directory under "Unsupported Plugins". I moved into it the following: Banks (fxp files), SaxLab2.dll and Sound File directorys: ("Alto Layers", "Bari Soft", "Bas soft", "flute", "Soprano Loud", and "Tenor Middle".
I was able install and get SaxLab 2 to instantiate. I have placed the banks directory inside my "unsupported plugins\SaxLab2" folder... and Saxlab 2 is able to read the .FXP files just fine. However, Saxlab 2 crashes because it is looking for its sound files (EG: Alto Layers\sax.sxlbsnd) and can't find them. My Question is: what is the directory structure I can use to let Saxlab 2 know where its sound files are?

Never mind... I found the answer to my question! Hurray! SaxLab 2 now works on my Receptor 2! And it sounds great! … and for $100 I will tell you how to get SaxLab 2 to run on a Receptor.
Just joking. I will do it for free of course and here is how you do it:
1. First go to the LinPlug Website and download the SaxLab 2 demo.
2. Install it on your PC (it will probably work on your MAC as well)
3. Now go into your "Unsupported Plugins" folder on your Receptor 2 (it will probably on work on the Receptor 1 as well) and create a folder called "Saxlab 2".
4. Place into this folder: SaxLab2.dll (of course)
5. Now go find the "Banks" folder for SaxLab 2 on your PC. It should be in EG: "C:\Documents and Settings\Phil\My Documents\LinPlug\SaxLab 2". Move the "Banks" folder to the SaxLab 2 Receptor folder you just created.
6. Now create a subfolder in SaxLab 2 folder called "Application Data". Here is where you place the SaxLab 2 soundsets. You can find the soundset folders on your PC in for example: "C:\Documents and Settings\Phil\Application Data\LinPlug\SaxLab 2". Got it? These folders are named: "Alto Layers", "Bari Soft", "Bass Soft", "Flute", "Soprano Loud", and "Tenor Module". go ahead and copy them into the "Application Data" folder.
7. Now, go to your Receptor Setup page and make sure that you have "Include Unsupported Plugins Folder checked. Now, install SaxLab 2.
8. Receptor will probably tell you that the install failed. But, you will soon see that it did not fail. So re-boot the Receptor by hitting the Power button 3 times quickly.
9. Go to your Mix Page and select SaxLab 2. Since this is just the demo it will hiss at you but keep going. Saxlab2 will crash at this point and give you an error screen because it can't find its soundsets. Don't worry and DON'T CLICK "OK". Instead, click on the "X" and close this window. Wait a minute and Saxlab 2 will instantiate.
10. Now, go into the GUI by clicking the "E" button.
11. If you look in the middle of the sceen, you will find that the soundset is blank. Ughhhh! OK, no problem... click on the "SaxLab2 Logo" near the top left of the screen and you will be directed to a new screen. On this screen, look on the top left and you will see a where you can specify the location of the soundset. Hurray! This is the key to getting SaxLab 2 to work on Receptor. Of course at this point you should select any soundset from you "Application Data" folder that you just created. SaxLab 2 uses this as a base reference. Even though you are only allowed to specify a single soundset, SaxLab 2 will be able to find all the other sound sets automnatically without asking you again. SaxLab2 will direct you to re-instatiate itself. So go ahead and remove SaxLab2 from the Mix and then select it again. This time it should not give you the error message since it can now find its primary soundest. Hurray again! unfortunately, it will continue to hiss occasionally (a small price to pay for this marvelous plugin).
12. Now you have to tell SaxLab 2 where it can find its program (Banks). Ok, no problem... Look at the top right of the SaxLab 2 screen and click on the button that looks like a folder. You now have the opportunity to specify an .fxp file for SaxLab2 to use as its base reference for program banks. So go ahead to select any .fxp file from fo example "\\Receptor2\receptor2 hd\Program Files\VST Plugins\Unsupported Plugins\SaxLab 2\Banks\Factory BC".
Now you are in business and SaxLab2 should be working for you.
I have played with it for about an hour now and I love it. I will be buying the official app today. I hope it adds more soundsets and programs and then of course removes the hissing sound.
I hope this works out for everybody. If not, I will try to help you get it installed and running.
