Receptor Pro Jr. > upgrade > Receptor 2 Pro MAX failed!!!

...a couple of months ago i ordered the upgrade from my Receptor Pro Junior to the Receptor 2 Pro MAX...

...according to Digital Audio Service Hamburg (MuseResearch local service provider) it took MuseResearch about 4 months to deliver the parts - in this case they just delivered the new mainboard and a new power-supply (which isnt needed as my Receptor has the correct powersupply installed already), but no Harddrive (i thought this would be part of the upgrade?)...

...after i sent my Receptor to Digital Audio Service they tried to upgrade my Receptor according to the instructions received by MuseResearch - but the Receptor would not boot up with the old HD, and reportedly Digital Audio Service provided a new HD with the new OS ( 1.8 ) installed, which also did not boot up...

...so, as i have just received my old, not upgraded Receptor, a couple of question rise:

- has anyone else had similar problems getting the upgrade?
- isnt there ususally a new harddrive with pre-installed OS provided for the upgrade?
- why is tech-support from MuseResearch not available these days to answer support requests?

...perhaps someone from MuseResearch could be so kind to get in contact either with me or with Digital Audio Service to help me make the upgrade happen...

TIA.

...hmmm...it's a couple of days now that neither here (i thought the KVR-forums are owned by Muse?!) nor by mail or telephone there was any contact from Muse...

...hey! - i bought this machine less than a year ago! - is this the way it usually goes with customers?! - sorry, i just start to wonder...

...what happened apart from me not being answered: Digital Audio Service in Hamburg had more luck and they received the confirmation, that the upgrade-kits that Muse shipped were incomplete...they will now be sent the missing parts (read: the harddrives!!!), and i may expect to have my Receptor upgraded after august 24th...

...let's see...

Post

...i still have not received my Receptor upgrade...

...i have no words to describe my thoughts regarding this matter and the treatment of a customer by MUSE Research...

...until now no-one from MUSE even bothered to get in contact with me, to answer my emails or phone-calls...

...you realise that i ordered my upgrade more than a year ago?!...that i sent in my Receptor twice to have it upgraded?!...received it back without the upgrade...

:-o

...you realise that i posted the last message about this in august last year?!...

Wow, that is a sad story, to say the least. Very frustrating! I hate to admit it, but I feel almost defeated by Muse. They really make you feel like you want to fly to California (or wherever they're at) and go pound on their door to try to get them to communicate with you. I will say that I have had pretty decent support for the couple of minor issues I've had, so make sure to open a support ticket through Plugorama if you haven't yet.

My frustration is mostly from not knowing if they'll ever come up with a better way to install "premium" VSTs and whether they intend to fully support/modernize Receptor 1's other then offering a costly upgrade.

Good luck, o8o8!

Maybe is right time to start open source project to make alternate OS for Receptor with Wine/VST host and native VST/LV2 plugins...

if some opens the door keep pounding that place needs its ass kicked, long time over due.
A minor scale is a major scale starting 3 half steps down from the major and visa versa. Any Chord has as many versions as it has notes.

I am really very sorry about the trouble you've had with this issue. I realize that apologizing doesn't make up for the frustration you've had to endure, but if you could proceed to www.plugorama.com/hd.php and open a support ticket for this issue (or just let me know your upgrade number here) I will personally see to it that action is taken immediately. Once again very sorry for your troubles.

...somehow i never received the information that there was some reply to this thread on KVR...so, thank you for your support!...

...incidently in an last effort to try everything i had logged about two weeks ago on to Plugorama and made exactely what Kevin asked for above...

...Kevin, who was very kind and patient, answered my support-incident immedeately and it looks as if i might get my upgrade now :tu: ...

...i'll update this thread as soon as there is any news...

Post

That's good news, o8o8! I hope it all works out for you as soon as possible.

Post

...hmmm...i am not sure how i do feel right now - but i think a distinct feeling is growing at the moment - as promised, here is the update regarding my upgrade:

...it did not happen yet!...

...actually, i did not get any reply from MUSE or Kevin during the last two months...

...again: two months without ANY communication, not even thinking about any information regarding a date when the upgrade might finally be done!...

Post

o8o8, maybe the feeling you are getting is one of love/hate?? :D That's what I have, anyway. The Receptor is a great idea, in most respects is implemented quite well and it would be totally LOVED if Muse's support wasn't so inconsistent. But for you to have to wait as long as you have to get your upgrade is really outrageous; your patience is admirable.

If I could offer any suggestion it would be to go back to Plugorama/support and make sure they haven't inadvertently closed your support ticket.

Good luck!

...thank you for your (moral) support  ...

...i do that - checking plugorama - regularly...obviously they spent the last two months redesigning their site btw...i find it pretty difficult now to find the support-related stuff there, but i managed to find my tickets anyway...

...and no, the ticket has not been closed...yet...

Post

Haha, I was going to make the comment about how the Plugorama site is real pretty now! Anyway, I'm sure they'll get right back to your upgrade now that Plugorama has been beautified...

Have you seen it on Ebay?

I once worked for a retailer who liquidated their repair department before filing Chapter 11. They held a scratch and dent sale to cover the last executive payroll and get this--bonuses.

One year in the shop? It smells the same.

Besides, I own one. I am the kiss of death for American boutique electronic companies.
