Short introduction:
My name is Paco, I'm from funky switzerland (that's really far away, I know..
A few weeks ago I brought a cheap notebook with Windows Vista (Home Premium) on it. As a long time Macuser (and Logic 8 Express User), this was quite an experiment, but I was just willing to use the notebook for office application and programming, not for music.
After a while, it turns out that I also needed a mobile recording solution, so I wanted to use my cheap notebook for music applications too. In a few days I'll visit a training camp for civil protection squad members, that were I need some hours to kick off and jam in my limited free time.
Spending some time using Google, i found MULAB, the perfect tool for my needs. 6 tracks, VST-plugin compatible, easy to use interface, and very rock solid interface!
My mobile rig contains:
Gibson ES-347 guitar (this is the real deal!)
Zoom H4 field-recorder/4-track-machine/USB Audio-Interface ....used as a 16bit/44.1kHz audio-interface and realtime guitar-processor!!!
Korg Nanopad used as a realtime MIDI-controller for drums (Toontrack Superior 2.0 drum-sampler) and Organ-Bass (GSI VB3 organ)
Audio-Technica ANC7 Noise-Cancelling headphones (very important when recording outside!)
Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Li 2727 notebook (2GB Ram, 1.83GHz Intel Dual Core CPU)
Plugin-Host and sequencer "MULAB free"
It looks damn cool....so here is a "test-drive" all done with the gear above! No tricks.....live, step by step, track by track recording!

Many thanks for MULAB (free). It turns out to be the perfect solution for me! Many thanks also for Toontrack and GSI (both are providing excellent stuff for musicians, check them out!)
Cheers
Paco
