Eloquence v Consequence

Im on the fence about which one to buy...i understand the basic uses for each plugin. Ive tried both demo's - and disregarding the internal synths, i would want to be controlling my other VST's only. No hardware here - purely softsynths.
I want opinions on what exactly the differences are...and how each differs in terms of can and cant do. Recently ive been looking for a great sequencer/arp tool. I have bought the following: Atomic/Midi Madness/Dualism and Catanya.
None of which are fulfilling my needs. Basically i really only want to see what exactly i would be missing out on by buying one or the other. Im leaning towards Eloquence...purely for its easier interface, but if Consequence is going to offer more flexibility (overall) i will reconsider.
I know this is a highly general question - i'd like a simple breakdown (from owners/users) of either - which is the most 'useful' option to take. Bearing in mind they are almost £90 each...its not something im prepared to splash out on on a whim...so if possible i will appreciate any help on choosing.
My uses are for the normal run of the mill stuff, but with the hope for a bit of a few neat tricks included.
Thanks

Eloquence is best suited to writing leads & basslines.
Consequence is best suited to writing pads & Stabs.

Thanks for your answer. Now the question is why is Eloquence better to write leads and bass sounds and Consequence is better for pads. Don't get me wrong, I just want to know the differences concerning the sequencer functionality.

Ok.....
Consequence is not a step sequencer in the traditional sense. Consequence is a chord sequencer. Sequencing chords on Consequence, is like nothing I have ever seen. It is an absolutely unique plug in. LOL Sugar-Bytes is good at unique plug ins!
Consequence, has a huge sound bank, ymmv, I don't use/need the bank. Consequence will transmit midi, on os x as a vst only. Some features work with the built in sound bank only, tie and glide, and some others.
Consequence is a brilliant arp, great way to get 8 bars of pads going, or even crazy midi gating of pads. Wonderful ambience.
I've got a Consequence license, and will most likely grab my Eloquence at Xmas, especially if Sugar-Bytes does one of their famous Xmas sales this year.
Eloquence is a step sequencer, in a more traditional sense. However, it has a vast array of features. RTFM. Eloquence is going to be great with leads, pads, basses, etc. Eloquence does not have a huge sound bank, but a saw oscillator. Eloquence will transmit midi on os x, as a VST, and windows no problem. Eloquence has a midi transmit, "au workaround," that will be in an upcoming Consequence update. YMMV.
The real understanding comes with doing the demos, and reading the manuals. Sugar-Bytes allows complete downloads of the manuals, and a great 30 day demo. I suggest to take advantage.
I think Consequence and Eloquence are a good pair. If you like one, you will most likely, enjoy the other as well.

You can augment eloquence with other midi plugins anyway. I've been using abletons built in midi plugins to create chords asnd arps with mixed results. If SB implement independant tempo speed for each sequencer you could create some nice chord sequences. @ red37, isn't consequence more or do you get some kinda student discount?

red check era2
i own this and aside from pitchbend lane is almost same but more functionality as eloquence
era2 isnt as pretty, but can rock both an arp, patterns, phrase seq, and drums with custom maps
its more power than elo but no longer supported by the orig dev and sugar sells it still i think
try it out man
i was geared up to purchase elo then i really compared features and era2 wins there
consequence is awesome but more than i needed hence the era purchase

Hey guys, thanks a million. You're really very helpful (much more than the SugarBytes people). Special thanks to ckatrun411.

Hm. I really hope the SugarBytes people don't hang around here all the time as some of us, and instead try to focus on development.opus_diaboli wrote:Hey guys, thanks a million. You're really very helpful (much more than the SugarBytes people).

Well, that's a double-edged sword because there's another factor called "customer service". I really considered to buy one of their products but I expect to get an answer when I've questions.jensa wrote:Hm.
