I had a secret project that I was working on trying to reunite some of the original people from APP with Alan for some vocal sampling and possibly some music too... covers, new versions of classics or maybe even a new song although less likely on the last one. But something fun and semi-related to the samples. When we were in London last year we sampled Lenny Zakatek who sang "Wouldn't Want To Be Like You" and "Games People Play". We were then talking to Eric about possibly doing some as well. I think I had heard he was sick and there was some mysterious apprehension. Now I think it's clear why. A shame we didn't get to work with him or do a one off reunion but that's life. A window of opportunity and then it can be gone the next day or month or year. You just never know.
We are still working on an incredible vocal library though and it has Lenny, Roger Manning from Jellyfish, Jason Scheff from Chicago, Simon Collins and a bunch of other great singers including Opera singers, choirs and more. We might get Jon Anderson to do something on it and who knows who else before it's done. We've been working on it for years and it is the one product we were smart enough not to announce!
Anyway, this isn't the usual RIP thread. It's in our company forum and I wanted to tell you about our experience with Eric and what might have been.
