UHBIK crashes newest version of Live (8.1.1)

I love my U-he products!
Looks like the latest version of live (8.1.1) will crash if you try and add a UHBIK effect to a track. If I open an existing track that already has UHBIK being used everything seems stable. This only occurs when trying to add the effects from the plugin menu to a track. Thanks!!!!

So far with Live 8.1.1, I'm getting hung notes that won't clear unless I click on a part on a different track (they are not linked); loops going out of Sync; plenty of crashes.
I'll try UHBIK out in a few and let you know.
Ableton are currently closed to celebrate the holidays. Ableton Customer Care will be out of the office from December 24th to December 27th and from December 31st to January 3rd.
UPDATE 01: No problems for me loading UHBIK, MFM2 or Filterscape (in a New Live Set)!
Windows XP/SP3

Yeah, Live 8.1.1 crashes for me every time when trying to drop any AU Uhbiks onto a track, it has been reported at the ableton forum too.
This is under Mac OS 10.6.2 btw.

Woah... can you send me a crash log to urs@u-he.com? I'd sure love to have a look.submerge wrote:Yeah, Live 8.1.1 crashes for me every time when trying to drop any AU Uhbiks onto a track, it has been reported at the ableton forum too.

Sure thing, I'll send it in a minute or two.
I just tried this on my MacBook Pro running 10.5.8 and it does the same thing. It will be an Apple crash log, as Live completely disappears and doesn't even get a chance to offer up it's own crash log.

Thank you!submerge wrote:Sent !
And... WOAHHH. To me it sure looks like Live is confusing Uhbik in some way with AAS Ultra Ananlog or AAS String Studio. These are the built-in instruments, right?
It's very interesting. The crash happens during deletion of some effect, and while requesting a parameter information from Uhbik, and certainly one for a parameter that doesn't exist.
Once I got my setup going I'd love to send you a version to debug that call. Might be quite interesting to see what this is.
It btw. affect a region of code that hasn't been touched in 3 years or so and is built closely around Apple provided sample code.

Bizarre !
Yes, I believe the equivalent Live Suite instruments Analog and Tension are fundamentally based on those AAS instruments. The Live set that the crash log relates to has nothing loaded at all until I drop the Uhbik on the track tho ?
To be honest this crashing, while terrible, doesn't surprise me too much as my Live 8 experience has been very buggy for me since day 1. It took many minor releases of Live to stop FabFilter effects from crashing the application in a similar way, and I spent quite a while troubleshooting and communicating with FabFilter and Ableton to get it sorted out. With their recent track record I have no doubt that this is an issue on Ableton's side which disappoints me greatly as I love Live ! Thanks for your interest all the same though Urs, I will gladly help if I can

Just to let you know, Uhbik isn't crashing 8.1.1 for me (neither's Zebra 2.5, haven't tried Filterscape yet).

On Windows or Mac ?
It seems like VST on Windows and Mac are fine, and certainly my Uhbik VST load OK after just testing them, but Audio Unit cause the crash... which is troublesome as all my projects utilise the Audio Unit versions ! yikes !!

Actually the Audio Units do crash, my friend had just been using my laptop earlier and had scrolled down so I was using VSTs instead of my usual Audio Units.
I'm using a MacBook myself (as you probably guessed from the Audio Units) running OSX 10.4.11, none of Ableton's built-in instruments (apart from Impulse and Simpler) are installed on my machine if that means anything.

Oh and Zebra and Filterscape audio units both work.

Do you think it would be worth re-downloading Live 8.1.1? The last time they f*cked up, they replaced the installer with a working version without making a public announcement, or changing the version number. You would do a check for an update within Live and of course it would tell you that you were using the latest version, because the version number had not been incremeted. I re-dowloaded that time, after finding out about it on the Ableon Forum. This was later confirmed by Ableton Support who encouraged me to re-download, without exactly admitting or denying what they had done . . . Feckers

How about Zebrify and ZRev?HauntedWeather wrote:Oh and Zebra and Filterscape audio units both work.
Otoh I had a hunch recently that it might have to do with plugin names...
