Hi

Im a jazz noob. Is it possible to start off with some progressions I could fit into d minor scale or something?

It does not have to be jazz as long as it helps me find out how to make weird progressions, and understand what im doing :)

Thanks

The ii V I progression (Dm G7 Cmaj7 in the key of C major) will take you a long way. Take a look at the song "Autumn Leaves" which has several ii V I progressions:

Autumn Leaves is a nice tune but I don't think it's what your asking for. If you want a song that stays mostly in the key of D minor, you probably want to play a minor blues tune. I think a good one would be "Birk's Works" by John Birks "Dizzy" Gillespie. It's originally in the key of F minor, but I transposed it for you. The song is a typical 12 bar blues; each / is one beat. Have fun!

Just want to give credit where credit is due: I got this info from an old Usenet post by Rick Stone (http://www.rickstone.com).
