Hi there,

I was wondering if it is possible to change my Thesys-User-Presets with some sort of Program Change. Im using Ableton, and i'm used to change Programms on my Hardware-Synths by creating a Midi-Dummy-Clip, containing no notes, only the Bank/Sub-Bank/Programm-Information. This works very nice for me, as i am only using the session view and navigate intuitevely through a song with firing scenes and using follow-actions and stuff. I don't want to look at the computer and use a mouse while making music.

How can I change Presets in Thesys this way? I did not find any documentation about how (or IF) Presets are assigned to Programs, e.g. User Preset 1 is Bank 4, Sub-Bank 1, Program 1... Trial and Error did not work out, but maybe i just messed around with the monitoring section of ableton or the routing of my Program-Change-Midi-Clip that should send the information to the instrument track. If i knew for sure what is assigned to what it would be much easier to find out where the mistake in my setup is ...

Sorry for my english - and thanks in advance, evbery bit of help is much appreciated :-)

+1 for this feature.

Hi,

currently Thesys does not support incoming Program Change.
Consider our pattern system as programs which you can change by your midi keyboard. This way we guarantee glitch free change of sequences.

I will also consider using Program Change to change presets of Thesys.
Or is it just that you want to change the patterns via PrgChange ?

Hello Sugar Bytes. :)

The method of changing PATTERN and PITCH of patterns using MIDI controller keys is great.

The following of what I have to say relates to Thesys PRESETS.

In Ableton, clips are able to be set up which send bank/program change messages to presets of instruments and plugins.

I would like to see Thesys respond to these messages. In this way, I could store banks of patterns within a Thesys preset, and be able to switch to another Thesys preset (to use a new "set" of patterns) using certain clips.

In the MIDI modulation section of Thesys, you are able to send bank/program change messages to other instruments in every pattern. If Thesys would also respond to these same MIDI messages from another MIDI channel (or even another Thesys) it would greatly expand the level of possibility for organization of sounds within a live performance.

I would like to set up Thesys so that every Thesys preset contains 16 patterns, all 16 of which send the same bank/program change message to an external synth (my Virus TI). Changing the preset would also change the Virus to a new sound, and 16 new patterns to play that sound, but right now you can only change Thesys presets by clicking with the mouse.

To be able to assign this to a knob or button of an external MIDI controller would make Thesys even more useful for live performance.

My MIDI controller is a Novation Remote SL Mk II. There is a knob on this controller that will send program change messages to the instrument it is currently controlling. Even though Thesys does not respond to bank/program changes from Ableton clips, I am able to change the PRESET of Thesys using this knob, but it will usually crash Ableton.

So it seems to be able to change Thesys presets with an external knob is not hard to fix.

I suggest an assignment system which assigns every Thesys preset which is saved into a certain folder to a bank and program change number.

I would also like to see the following:

*More parameters available to be assigned to MIDI via Ableton or controller (interval note rate, step/live rec, randomizers, etc.)

*Step/live rec to respond to velocity/gate time, not just note messages

Other than that, great work! I love this plugin. :) I hope Sugar Bytes continues to refine this tool.

Sorry to resurrect this thread but did this ever get fixed? I've just been trying to get Thesys to respond to 'program change' controls from Ableton clips but it doesn't seem to work :(

Would be amazing to get this working for my live set!

Alright, please ignore me, problem solved!
