Can't Locate My Own ACE Patches

I believe I should have a folder somewhere that contains my personal presets but they disappear when I look in my computer.

When I first used ACE, I created a new folder in the preset hierarchy on the synth itself but when I look in my program files it isn't there (and i've been looking as extensively as my limited tech knowledge allows). This is so odd because the synth displays all presets including my own inside their own folder, but when I look in ACE data it displays all presets and folders EXCEPT my own.

This is a problem because 1.) I would like to permanently delete the JUNKED presets I have accumulated. 2.) I would like to make back-up copies of them just to be safe and eventually give them to the community.

I have been looking in C:\Program Files\VstPlugins\u-he\ACE.data\Presets\ACE and I checked C:\Program Files\u-he\ACE (which is empty).

If it helps i'm on a Sony Vaio, Windows Vista 32 bit, and i'm running Ableton 7.16.

Hopefully, it is something simple I overlooked and any help is much appreciated. Thanks. :)

P.S. I also can't locate the tuning files folder or find a way to have them recongnized by ACE. Possibly related?

for example i packed my presents in a extra folder in "c:/..../ace/data/presents/ace/.." and it works :D

I had this problem on my pc too . I cant remember the exact filepath off the top of my head but its something like / user / appdata / local / virtual store / u-he / steinberg / plugins / u- he / ACEdata . Something like that , I can find out later when I get home .

Yeah, still can't find them for some reason. Just spent the last hour looking through both every logical and illogical place I could. Thanks for the recommendations though. I might have to bounce songs to audio and reinstall ace. I did try it already, just without deleting the data section. Maybe this will get things in order?

and yes I know this is the most boring thread of all time! :hihi:

When you install, make sure that ACE.data is *not* in a write protected or otherwise microsoftish administered location, such as C:\Program Files\

You can of course move ACE.data anywhere into your own documents directory, and create a Shortcut that you move back to Vstplugins. See the installation manual for details (it might be better explain in the one for Uhbik though)

Anyhow, if you are using roaming in UAC mode (I think that's what MS calls it), then your files are in a hidden location (as brick points out). You can browse to them by making those hidden system files visible in Explorer.

I'm back from my vacation-in-a-vacation in a few days, then I can check it.

Cheers,

;) Urs

After doing a search on "how to show hidden files in vista", thanks to Urs' recommendation and using the path Brick suggested, I finally found them. Feels good to know where they are now!

Thanks again :)
