Hi URS,
What do you think about the new MBP i7 (17" model)?
You reckon I could expect a reasonable performance from your upncoming Modular bundle with that one? I'd be mostly using UAD dsp to handle any effects etc, so we're only talking about running the synths.
Any estimates on instance counts (I know exact instance count is impossible to give, by some kind of ballpark figure pls). If I could get a modest amount of tracks with polyphony (of abt 3-6 notes per instance) & "accurate" quality in all tonegens, It might be enough to warrant an upgrade..
I know these kinds of questions can sound dangerous to you. I'm not gonna go all over the net saying that everyone should upgrade to the new MBP just cause you said so. Just need an opinion.. Because with all these "real threads vs virtual threads" etc just make me dizzy when I think about the fact that a single VST can only utilize a single core for all of its number crunching (?) Like you can only run 4 massive passives with an UAD2 quad because each instance takes 60% dsp load (ie. free dsp load cannot be recycled into a single new dsp pool), ok that was just a silly example but I hope you see what I mean.
TIA & Cheers
Is the new MBP 17" i7 "Berlin Modular-ready"?

my rough estimate based on using ACE, Bazille, and working on an i7 quad iMac and looking at benchmarks for the new MBP would be that the new MBP17/15 with i7 can have 12-14 total voices sounding at once and all on accurate setting.
