Hello,

I'm using FL studio 9 and Zebra 2.5 demo. Do you know how to make an automation clips with Zebra?

I would like to change one parameter (for instance cutoff in xmf1) through the main sound but I don't know how to do it.

Please help me. thanx

Post

right click on that parameter you wanna automate -> "midi learn" -> then use your midi-controller on for example controller #74 to let zebra learn it -> after that you can eighter draw midi automation in your sequencer or use your controller to record it.

hope that helps,
matthias ;)

in the FLS wrapper , engage the drop down menu , and click 'browse parameters' ...
any parameter that reports to the host will be shown , to the left ...

right clicking on the knob , shown next to the parameter will initiate a menu ...
you may choose 'edit events' , or 'create automation clip' ...

i recommend that you spend some time w/ the help file , and on the image-line forum ...

Automation clips work the same for Zebra as any other VST.

In addition to the method normal described, you can also tweak the control you want to automate with your mouse (cutoff, for example). Then in the menu bar, click 'Tools', then 'Last Tweaked', then 'Create automation clip'.

That 'Last Tweaked' menu will also let you connect that parameter to a controller (using the 'Link to controller' option), including an internal controller. So, for instance, if you added a channel for Fruity Keyboard Controller, you could map the cutoff (or other parameter) to the Keyboard Controller, and that will respond to your computer's typing keyboard. Then, to record automation, hit the record button in your transport controls, play through the track while adjusting your parameters as you like, and once you stop recording, your automation is recorded.

indeed , but only if that parameter reports to the host ...
that is why i suggest starting w/ ' browse parameters ' ...
lets you know what parameters are available for automation ...

True, hadn't thought of that.

Zebra does report quite a lot of parameters to FL Studio, in practice. In the case of the XMF filter cutoff (mentioned by the OP), I couldn't figure out which of the listed parameters it would be (there are several labeled 'cut', for instance). That's why I've always taken the 'last tweaked' approach myself; saves me trying to figure out the details. :-)

a good point ...
too many choices , inadequate labeling ...

There's a file "com.u-he.Zebra2.publicparams.txt" in Zebra2.data\Support\ which contains a customizable list of parameters. If you replace it by the file "com.u-he.Zebra2.publicparams.xt.txt" (renaming latter filename into former) then all parameters are named e.g. "VCF1:Cutoff" etc.

Cheers,

;) Urs

!

that's really cool, urs. i need to email that to myself...

... would be a very useful addition to the manual!

I can't get this to work, i have tried to rename both of the files to both of the other names, and none of them does the trick.
What am i doing wrong, i am using the VST to RTAS wrapper.

I add a question:
The paraemter "vowel", in the LP Formant module, is automatable via midi, ok.
But why can't be assigned as modulation destination in the mod matrix?

Hmmm, maybe the VST2RTAS wrapper has chached the parameter information. Can you do a "rewrap" with the wrapper?

Hmm did not work...
I open the txt-file and i see that there is other info in this text but nothing changes in my synth when i open the automation part after renaming.

Now i might have missed something about your explanation.

Now i am really confused, take what file and change into what name?

Post

Could still need some help with this, has anyone else succeeded with replacing the file so the names appear differently in automation panel?
Explain it to me like i was a 5 year old =)

Ok maybe 10 atleast.............
