I'm looking to get the cheapest possible physical VST host that will also be able to host Komplete 6 decently....is the receptor for me?

Get a Macbook and be done with it.

I see the "get a Macbook" advice a lot. Obviously that's not the complete solution as you'll also need a professional audio device (soundcard) and VST hosting software.

That's subjective...it certainly can be a complete solution. Regardless, I would prefer a laptop to a Receptor, even if I have to add supplemental hardware/software.
