Hey all,
needing some setup help. I am trying to come out from ch 1 thru S/PDIF OUT and through S/PDIF IN on an Edirol UA-1D usb capture device -- and then into software, either Ableton or FL Studio 9.1.
I have ensured that S/PDIF out is enabled as an output for Ch 1, and actually all channels + master. My win7 pro machine recognizes the Edirol UA-1D as a recording device and appears under recording in OS/system mixer. I am noticing that no levels/signal is coming through.
I have a m-audio keystation 61es plugged into the front usb port on my receptor 2 as a controller. I've assured that this is working -- plugged in headphones into the unit and I am getting generated audio on the receptor itself.
I've tried both Ableton 8.x and FL Studio 9.1 producer -- for destination/recording on the win7 pro machine. I selected the Edirol UA-1D as the audio input device in both pieces of software. However it is clear that no signal is coming into the computer. Win7 does give that level indicator under recording devices as a preview -- I even specified the Edirol as the default recording device to rule out conflict.
Any other suggestions? I'm missing something. I'm guessing it may be the Edirol unit itself as it is older and may actually not be compatible with windows 7.. I noticed this device has been discontinued. Any other usb capture devices you'd suggest purchasing if you think this is main prob?
Thx All,
Steve

One thing to check is if the Edirol is has it's spdif port is enabled. I'm not too familiar with those interfaces, but I know many small interfaces (such as my M-audio Audiophile USB) have the ability to enable or disable spdif. The other thing you want to check is if the spdif input comes into your edirol as input 1-2 or 3-4 etc.. Lastly, I don't think this is the problem, but it's something to look into, how is your digital clock synced up? Is Receptor clock master, or is the edirol.

Kevin, thanks for replying.
I will check up on the enable/disable of input when I get back to the house. Off the top of my head, I don't recall a place to do that which makes me wonder if the driver windows auto-installed for me is completely compatible with the device itself.. will look into / maybe contact edirol.
Also, I'd like to use receptor as digital clock master -- where do I do that?
Thx

You would just have to set the edirol device to sync to external spdif
