Okay i purchased Zebra 2 a day or so ago. Cool , but ive been having difficulties installing it.

So i download the zebra demo file then

In the instillation process when selecting a place to install the plugin and data to, as default it offers to send the data to the VSTplugins folder along with the plugin.

Now when i do that it installs , Ableton starts but then shortly after it says file could not be created c:/programfiles/vstplugins/u-he/zebra2.data.text.

then Ableton closes saying a serious error has occured and will shut down.

Okay , so then i attempt to install it again , this time sending the data to c:/users/public/documents/ as the manual says. When i do this it wont install saying that it cant find the specified path. Ive tryed sending it to Desktop aswell but it wont seem to install.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Right click on the Live icon and choose "run as" administrator.
I believe that is the problem.

Run Live as admin then go to preferences->files (or something like that, don't use Live anymore, can't remember clearly). Then in the vst section do a rescan or turn off vst support then turn it back on. This will rescan all your vsts.

The best idea is moving Zebra2.data out of the write protected zone (C:\Program Files\...) alltogether:

- open Vstplugins directory which holds Zebra2.dll in Explorer and locate "Zebra2.data"
- move the whole folder Zebra2.data to C:\Users\You\Documents\
- right-click Zebra2.data in new location and create a shortcut (symbolic link)
- move the shortcut back to Vstplugins, in the same directory as Zebra2.dll
- rename the shortcut back to "Zebra2.data" if it's called "Zebra2.data shortcut" or anything else

This way Zebra follows the shortcut to look for its resources and permissions within Vstplugins\ do not matter anymore.

I keep my plugins completely out of the Program Files directory with Windows 7. That directory is a pain to use now with all the security. I made a D:\VST and D:\VST64. Zebra works just fine inside both.

Hope that helps.
