Guitarist (Mac Standalone) MIDI Out not working?

For the life of me, I cannot get MIDI out to work on any IAC bus and also seem to have the MIDI out not 'take' as when I go back into preferences it often is reverted back to no output? I use the IAC bus all the time and it is still working on everything else, any ideas?

also, standalone still crashing when I try to quit.

btw, the 'MIDI pipeline inside of a Kore 2 vst chain does work (Guitarist passes it's MIDI out to next vst synth), but then you have to use the plug following Guitarist's sound source exclusively. So it seems solely a Standalone/IAC issue.

As posted elsewhere, try as I might, I can't get the audio outs on the standalone to do anything other than go to the default 1,2 on my MOTU interface
