Well I've been on the receptor 2 for a few days now, first let me say this is a fantastic experience. I've designed PC based max/msp rack units, done ableton, many different types of live systems and the Muse is hands down going to be the nicest for integrating into a band environment. I would probably still use ableton / maybe with the muse for a DJ rig but for a band, having a laptop is lame.

A couple of notes about my setup for those who care.

I'm using the novation remote SL 37 which is lovely for setting up buttons for different pgm changes that then relate to receptor multi's because the remote SL can label them so they're on the keyboard.

I'm using an 828 MK2 in standalone mode for additional I/O (including mic input) through the muse s/pdif port. I will use the mixer to create a summed out on the receptor and individual outs using the adat.

This makes sense because for smaller clubs I can use stereo out, for larger clubs I will use the individual outs on the 828 with a small attenuating TRS to XLR cable so that the outs will resemble the signal they would expect from a DI box.

I will have a custom tap tempo box that will take care of syncing the receptor to the band / drummer.

So far this is all working great!

Some requests / questions for the muse community:

1. Multi-patch exclude, I would love to be able to exclude certain tracks / mixer parameters from the multi load. This would enable certain channels to remain live during a switch, also mixer settings / instrument balance could be set for the whole evening based on the club instead of getting saved into each multi.

2. Midi routing to more than the first source / fx would be nice, this is only really problematic for vocoders / harmonizers etc. but I've found the vocov plugin's capture method to work around this beautifully.

3. Zload, can I move manually installed plugins out of the unsupported folder so that zload works for them?

4. While we're on the topic of loading, you might want to see if muse can do a check to see if it's the same plugin (i.e. a boolean type != filter) that is already instantiated and not re-instantiate it, even when it's not Zload. Maybe this is already the case, but I made to multi's that were identical to see if the load time would essentially be zero between them, but it is still taking same amount of time as going between two different patches.

5. lastly, any chance of integrating a simple scripting / macro language into the os would be great. Something that can execute a couple of non-pgm commands based on a single pgm or sysex command.

Okay that's it for now, except that the blue power light is a little to bright, no? I'm gonna put a little tape over it

Thanks for your hard work on this unit, I think it's great and is going to give me more time to think about playing music and less worrying about what the computer is doing.
