Like the title says... I'm not exactly clear why I would choose one over the other. Can anyone weigh in?
Consequence vs. Thesys - which is the one for me?
I create a variety of styles of music, I'm not just an 'electronic' guy, in fact, I'm mostly intrigued with the notion of being able to route the MIDI engines to organic sounds. But that's not to say I wouldn't ever use internal sounds.
In the immediate future I'm looking for a plugin to help me create Reich-esque pattern.
Any thoughts as to why someone would buy one over the other? I'm confused.
Happy 2011,
Joel

Did you try the demos out yet?
Well I bought Thesys instead of Consequence for a couple of reasons.
Foe one, it was simpler to use, and two, it lets you use your soft synths routed to it.
I'm still not sure, but I don't think Consequence lets you route you synths to it like Thesys does.

This was in the marketplace but thought it belongs here ...

Consequence also has the built in instruments where thesys just has a basic synth, and can treat 3 different instruments 3 different ways, each reacting differently to the sequence in consequence. So if you export the midi you are working with you can actually get 3 different midi lines depending on your settings.
One main draw for thesys over consequence is the CC sequencing, thesys has a section just to sequence whatever midi CC #'s you want for output. In consequence the parameter sequencing is strictly for the built in synths and cant be routed out, only notes. Thesys also has some great options for messing with on the fly with its built in keyboard to change pitch along with loop, gate length, and some other effects. Thesys was designed partly to be able to be played live where consequence in my experience is definitely more for design.
They are fairly different, Id say overall consequence is better for coming up with lead and more advanced sounding stuff where thesys is great for bassline type things, obviously something that is usually monophonic is good for it. Both great programs though
