VSTi issues on MAC OS X

Hi There.
I am just getting into making music with my mac and picked MU LAB as my free midi sequencer of choice.
I am having some issues with using VST instruments, and I don't really know if there is a bug or not.
Scanning the VST directory most of my VSTs come out as "disabled". (the only one that does not is a pluggo VST, but that one has a frozen GUI)
If I use Rosetta with MU LAB i can get the VSTs to work, but with no graphics. I see no fancy gui for the VST, only the mulab basic adjusters. (and then the pluggo VST does not work at all)
Is this intended?

Additional thoughts:
Who knows, maybe all my VSTs are crap.
If someone could point me to a VSTi which is known to work with the latest MU LAB on Mac OS X i will try with that one and report back.

On OSX, it's recommended to use VST 2.4 plugins.
VST 2.3 (or lower) plugins will not show their custom editor because of drastic changes Apple and Steinberg made to their SDKs.
You can try the Linplug Free Alpha, it's a VST 2.4 plugin which works fine here.
Hope this helps.

The Linplug works like a charm. Nice VST. Problem solved. Thanks for your help.mutools wrote:On OSX, it's recommended to use VST 2.4 plugins.

May I suggest adding some documentaiton about this. I and Google spent quite some time together and we did not find any information regarding this issue. (Maybe my google-fu needs improving)
Maybe add a section in the troubleshooting guide about disabled VSTs, and add a vst section to system requirements: "MAC Os X Supported VST: >=ver 2.4"
On a side note, are there any other tips on good, free, MAC OS X VSTs?

I used a search for "Free + OSX + VST + Synth" here on Kvr -> Plug-in Database. On a side note, are there any other tips on good, free, MAC OS X VSTs?
I noticed that this does not give a lot of satisfying results, but luckily Linplug is a good one.

Thanks for your time.
I looked around yesterday, and found a few actually.
At some point I will publish a list of the ones I found: "MU LAB MAC OS X compatible, free VSTs" should I post it in this forum or the VST forum?
