Hi,
Waldorf now officially announced the upcoming Lector Vocoder plugin:
english: http://www.waldorfmusic.de/en/lector-overview.html
german : http://www.waldorfmusic.de/de/lector-ueberblick.html
other links about the specifications:
http://www.waldorfmusic.de/en/lector-sy ... ments.html
http://www.waldorfmusic.de/en/lector-sp ... tions.html
The Waldorf Lector is a FX plugin which will be released as VST2, VST3 and AU versions. For sidechaining inside VST2 there is a second plugin called "Lector Carrier" which is inserted at the track which should be used for sidechaining.
With the internal synth as the Carrier you could also use the included samples or load your own ones.
As the input (= "Speech") you could use any plugin like synths, samples or external inputs (e.g. Microphone). For the "Carrier" signal you could either use the internal 2 OSC synth or an external source if you use the "Sidechain" mode and the Lector Carrier plugin (second plugin not necessary for VST3 or AU).
It's also possible to use it within sample editors like e.g. Steinberg Wavelab which is able to use VST FXs.
Lector is based on the Waldorf D-Coder Powercore plugin (and on the Vocoder of the Q desktop AFAIK): http://www.tcelectronic.com/WaldorfDCoder.asp
More features could be seen at he Waldorf website (see links above)
Copy protection will be by eLicenser like Largo and the PPG Wave 3.V.
An older KVR thread about Lector based on the Musikmesse could be found here:
http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 57#4486357
UPDATE:
I just noticed that this is published in the Instruments forum. I thought i added it to the Effects forum. If necessary please move it to the appropriate forum.

No, it's really not boring at all.jackrabbit wrote:You seen the vid? Didnt look boring to me, its far from a regular vocoder. Shame its going to be out of my price range.Kriminal wrote:a vocoder? boooooooooooooooooooooooooooring
Of course it's a different thing compared to a regular synth but the good thing is that you could use it with any other synth plugin or an external input.
Based on the video from the Musikmesse the price will be around 199 Euros. I totally missed that Wolfram mentioned this. Let's see if this is the final one.
One video from the Musikmesse is here, it's in german only:

Are you sure?Mescalito wrote:ohh no the same slow GUI haha
BTW both Largo (v1.5.1) and PPG Wave 3.V (v1.0.2) are working nicely on Windows 7 32-bit here. Same about the Waldorf Edition (with latest v1.2.9).

As a waldorf d-coder owner is there an upgrade path? I would be all over it if there was. Lovely bit of kit, but as power core will likely not be supported in windows 8 this would be a fine replacement
I believe every thread should devolve into character attacks and witch-burning. It really helps the discussion.

Currently i have no idea about an upgrade path but since there was one for the old Waldorf Edition and the old PPG WAve 2.V to the new versions it could be possible. Opposing to Komplexer (replaced by Largo now) which was a Terratec product the D-Coder was an official Waldorf product.ericj23 wrote:As a waldorf d-coder owner is there an upgrade path? UPDATE:
I asked about the upgrade path. I'm waiting for an answer now.
