Hello.

I need help creating a bass patch in ACE, I've tried a lot, but just can't make it sound quite the same. It is the sound in the first 5-10 seconds of this youtube video made with Doepfer -

Hope that someone has the time to try it:-)

Best, Ken

I can't make the patch right now (no DAW installed on this PC) but I have had all of the modules being used at one point or another. It looks like he's using the pulse outs of the two A-110 oscillators and modulating the pulse width using an LFO. Those two oscillators are feeding a mixer which in turn feeds the A-120 filter (24dB/oct Moog type filter) and finally a VCA. It looks like the VCA may be getting fed back into the mixer to overdrive the filter (though I could be wrong). It looks like he has two modulation sources feeding the CV inputs on the filter. One is definitely an envelope with a fast attack and fairly short decay. I can tell what the other modulation source is.

Hope that is helpful.

This was my best shot, I didn't look at the routings and don't know the gear so I guess I'm just happy it's sort of along the lines of what Justin described

There's a whole world of really analog sounding timbres with extremely fine adjustments to tuning, sync, and cross-modulation, this was a good test to remind me of that (it's also a world that I don't fully comprehend :-o )

I assume you have the arp or something like it in MIDI somewhere? I had an 8 step 16ths loop at about 130ish BPM: A0-E0-A1-A0-A2-A#2-A0-A2, that's at least close - *edit* and duration of step was, 80% of 1/16th note, fungible with envelopes though I'm sure

another quick edit - filter gains and cutoffs are good to tweak for something like the movements in the patch in the video

Thank you very much for your time, you have been most helpfull! And especially to xh3rv for the pathing up, it sounds just like it with some small tuning! Also downloaded your Capism soundbank, very nice!

Again, thank you guys so much!

Best, Ken
