Hi, sure MDynamicsLimiter is a brickwall limiter ;).

I'll chime in with a similar question: I couldn't find a bit crusher/sample rate reducer thingy among the MCreativeBundle or free plugins. Did I overlook something? It might be a worthy addition. I could use a 64bit bit crusher. A multiband version would also be interesting.

For the brickwall limiter option, take a look here:

MMultiBandDistortion ;). Just disable the distortion module and use only the destroyer module.

But it doesn't have a sample rate reducer/s&h effect, right?

True, though "sample rate reducer" is basically low-pass filter, that's all. S&H is different. There are some other modes though.

Yeah, I meant s&h/resampling. Maybe you could add that to MMultiBandDistortion's destroyer section. It isn't too difficult algorithm-wise, is it?

No it's not, but is it that "awesome"? I never heard in action.

I'm sure you've heard it. It's a very common effect nowadays that's used a lot in some genres. Many synthesizers have it on board and many effects include it (TB time machine, TAL bit crusher, Atom Splitter Distroyr etc...). Actually, what most people mean when they say "bit crusher" is probably this s&h/downsampler/decimator/sample rate reducer.

Here's an audio example - a simple preset in Zebra to which I added a SR decimate filter. I turn down the cutoff (= sample rate) over the time.

Not everyone likes the sound (it's basically aliasing), but on some sounds it can nice effects. And it would fit perfectly within MultiBandDistortion.

Ok, I'll add it to to-do list.
