This is something i don't understand.

When i open MDynamicEq it looks like in picture 1. The grey background.
Now when i click near the edges of the analyzer window the background suddenly changes. (Becomes brighter). What is that doing? Does it mean something or is it a bug?

Hmmm, interesting, looks like a bug to me. Can you verify using multiple styles? Does it happen always? On which platform and host?

It happens on both OSX and XP platform, using Live 8.2.5.

Very simple to reproduce for me:

- Open Live.
- Load instance of MDynamicEq. The texture in the Analyzer window is clearly visible and the overall color is grey. (Picture 1)
- Leftclick anywhere in the Analyzer window. Window turns white and texture becomes less visible. (Picture 2)
- Click on any of the controls outside of the Analyser window. Window becomes dark again and texture comes back to normal visibility. (Picture 1)

After installing the plugin (on both platforms) i've changed the Style to what you see in the Style configuration window in the pictures. Also i set a default size. That's it, nothing else.

I can say that it happens in the latest version and the one before that. MDynamicEq is updated on my PC, on OSX not yet.

I haven't tried other styles yet, will i lose my current custom settings if i click on other styles now?

Ok, so please first check other styles, maybe that's gonna give us some clues. You won't loose any settings unless you change colors too.

Ok i tested. Seems to be a bug in the highlight function.

The change in color/contrast/brightness/alpha is visible in all Style presets, but with the exception that it's most visible in the Colorful preset i use.

For instance choose Default Light. (Grey/purple window). Then click in the analyzer window, to make it "active". Note how the analyzer window looks. Now move the mouse up and click on any of the control values, i.e. Input Gain.
As soon as you click on the control value, notice how the analyzer window becomes a bit less "bright". Click on analyzer again, it becomes brighter.. etc

So somehow this gamma/brightness/alpha bug is very visible in my custom Style mode. IIRC after installing the plugin one of the first things i did was, change Style and tweak the color of the analyzer window. Then i activated analyzer and stretched the window a bit and set as default.

So maybe you can reproduce it that way.

Vojtech i never heard back from you. Did you manage to find the bug?

Not at the moment - I'm working on the Mac64, so the GUI is now "messed up" :), will get to that asap.

Ok, I finally got to it, but honestly I don't think it's a bug. At least with the default colors / colors from the presets. The colorful style indeed has the "editor" very bright, that can be lowered, but the question is if that's even a good idea. Some people may be choosing this style (which to me looks really ugly, don't know why I made it :D ) just because the editor being bright may be advantageous in some plugins... dunno...

Well to me that's how i have the Analyzer setup. Bright. It's clear that way, i like it.
And it's not so nice to see it get dark everytime when i touch a controller, and then get bright again when i click in the analyzer window.

Ideally: I don't want the analyzer window brightness lowered. I want it to remain bright even when i click on a controller.

Post

Well, I'll check if colorful style would make sense like this.

Well I always hoped all screens could be as bright as that bug.

To me the bug was that it wasn't bright everywhere, not that it shouldn't be bright at all.

And I use the colorful style on many of the plugins ;)

I was beginning to get the feeling i was the only one! :P

Wish I could post some screenshots. I came up with some very nice colored GUI's using the colored style. It's just a matter of picking colors that go together :)

Vojtech, any news on this bug? Apart from you liking it or not it is a bit disturbing (for all users i would think) having brightness changing all the time when you're tweaking the EQ.

Good luck!

Hmmm, I thought you said you want it that bright all the time? So I made the 5.06b style brighter... So now I'm confused
