Difficulty Naming Presets in Diva

I was recently on here working out a problem with the presets in Diva not appearing on the presets page of the synth. That surprisingly got worked out when I created a preset on my own, and I now have all the presets. The new problem that I found was difficulty naming the preset I had created.
When I was in the field in which I was to enter the name of the preset, I found it would only allow me to enter certain letters. Because of the poor quality of the preset (as I explained in the prior discussion, I was in kind of a hurry because the main focus was to find the existing presets, not really to create one), I decided to call it "Sorry Sound". When I went to enter the letters, though, regardless of how many times I tapped the various keys on the keyboard, several of the letters could not be entered. Instead of "Sorry Sound", though, I ended up with the name "SySu", because the o, r, n, d, and space would not function when I was in that field! I can live with this, but I don't know if it represents something that needs to be reconsidered in the programming. I can't imagine it is somehow tied to my PC, but if there is some other simpler explanation that would sort it out for me, I'd be fine with that.

I use Sonar X1 as my DAW and VST host.

There's an option to give keys to plugin in Sonar... that might help a bit... (but I think Sonar still doesn't give me space and r)

I also had the same problem in Samplitude Pro X, Urs.Urs wrote:There's an option to give keys to plugin in Sonar... that might help a bit... (but I think Sonar still doesn't give me space and r)

ok... I'll try a workaround that I similarly did for RTAS Mac, in which I take keys sent to plugin by host and pass them to the open Window.
I have no idea how they manage to intercept keys. Weird stuff.

I had this problem with the beta. I am also using sonar X1. Sonar did not seem to be passing the keystrokes to Diva. The keys would activate the Sonar shortcuts and not be passed on. I was wondering if it might be a focus problem. I don't really know the details of the vst interface, so that is just a guess. Oh, the button to send keystrokes to the plugin had no effect. I ended up saving my presets to .fxp files.
I don't know if that helps, but it might give you a clue.

Yes they do - I put in a support request myself about it maybe 6 or more months ago and haven't heard a thing from them - their support is crapzbpc1 wrote:The problem is Sonar X1. If you use Sonar 8.5 it will work. Cakewalk support knows of this problem and it appears they have no plans to fix the problem.
The workaround for me is either not to use Sonar (my preferred option tbh) or open Notepad, enter the preset name into Notepad and then use copy paste which does work provided you have selected to send keystrokes to the plugin as well

Thanks, all. Where do I go in Sonar to elect to send keystrokes to the plugin? I have not seen that option.

It's the little keyboard icon in the top far right of the plugin window (next to Rd and W)

Thanks, but now I'm a bit more confused. I initially thought you meant it was a control within Sonar, itself, not the plugin. I have opened several different plugins in Sonar X1, including Dimension Pro, which you used as an example, and they do not have the same controls yours include. There is a key that looks like a keyboard, but it is in a different location, and when I click it, it opens a step sequencer. If I hover over it, it just says "Step Sequencer", and if I right click it, it does nothing.
How do you upload graphic images on this site? I see nothing about it.
Thanks, Rob R

The control is in the plugin window so it is still part of Sonar but wrapped around each plugin loaded. Newer versions like X1 have a step sequencer button too but that is to the left of the Rd and W buttons and looks different - the keyboard button is still on the far right.

Thanks for the response, but your image of Dimension Pro in Sonar looks nothing like mine up in the upper right corner. I had asked how you upload images here so I could demonstrate it to you. I have leftmost in the right upper corner, as you do, the controller/ACT Surface learn mode button. The next to the right of that is the keyboard-like button for the step sequencer, then S (solo) button, then R (Automation Read enabled or disabled), then finally W (Automation Write enabled or disabled). That is it. There is no keyboard button anywhere in the area. I may have to call Cakewalk support to find out if there is a means to give keyboard control to the plugin in the version I have, but it's not where you have it.
While considering this issue, I noted another curiosity this morning that may or may not have anything to do with the trouble I am having with use of Diva, but when I open Diva, none of those keys in the upper right corner is to be seen anywhere! It is just a blank strip of the same color as the background of the GUI. So even if I was able to use such a control in my plugins in Sonar X1, it appears the option would not be available to me in Diva for some reason. This is getting really weird!

This is how it should look - don't know why it isn't for you:

You can't upload images to KvR - you need to link it to an online image (eg in Photobucket) and then use the IMG tags
