I am sorry to re-open the same topic, but at one point I thought I had it fixed and expressed such, so I fear Urs may have stopped following the topic. Now I've found I was mistaken, and Diva is not working correctly for me. I hope not to have this line lost to consideration (in particular, I hope Urs is still watching and considering the issue). I was briefly able to use the synth, and I have fallen in love with it, so to speak, so I really hope to be able to get it installed and functioning correctly.
As I understand it, the installation instructions advise basically the following:
1. Put the Diva.data folder in Users/(name)/Documents. That's where it is--in my case, Users/Rob/Documents. The instructions advise that the only place not to put it is Program Files, but one user tried that and said it worked fine, so I gave it a try, but it did not help.
2. Put the Diva.dll file somewhere in the VST plugins folder. In my case, it has been in C:/Program Files or Program Files (x86) (depending on whether I was installing the 64-bit or 32- bit version--I have tried both with the same results)/Cakewalk/VSTPlugins/u-He/. I have also tried both leaving it in the u-He folder with my other u-He VST's and creating a separate Diva folder within u-He, but neither worked correctly.
3. Create a shortcut link to Diva.data by right clicking on it, renaming it to remove the"-shortcut" suffix, and dragging it to the same folder where Diva.dll sits. In fact, if you install it correctly informing the installer where the VST should go and where the Data file should go, it creates the Diva.data shortcut for you and puts it in the right place. I have tried that both ways, letting the installer create the shortcut and creating the shortcut myself, as well, with the same outcome of having a synth without presets.
The thing is, this really strikes me as pretty straightforward and easy stuff as it is spelled out. I believe (as I said right from the start) that I've done it correctly in several different ways, and for some reason it is just not working correctly for me.
In the discussion to this point, one user suggested I might find where Diva wanted to save the presets by creating a new preset and saving it. I created a preset, saved it, and used Windows Search to find it. I found it had put it right in the folder in Diva.data with the existing presets, so I didn't think that was likely to help. Curiously, after I did that, though, I gave one last shot at opening the presets page, and to my surprise all the presets were there. That enabled me to give Diva a real but brief trial. That is also when I expressed belief that I had fixed the problem.
Unfortunately, I overwhelmed the sound card at one point and Sonar balked, so I had to shut it down and reopen it. When I reopened it, Diva was behaving as it had before, and I had no presets again. I thought I might be able to get them back in the same way I seemed to have gotten them the first time, by creating and saving a preset. Somehow it did not work the same way this second time. It did create and save the new preset, but I don't know where it saved it, and Windows Search does not find it. When I open Diva to the presets page now, it continues to have only the empty "Local" folder in the lower left corner, but it also has the second new preset I created in the black preset field, so I know it was saved, even though I can't find where! That is the only preset I can select and play as of this time.
I hope it is not problematic that I have reopened this topic, but I feared it might have been dropped after I expressed thinking I had fixed it. I am anxious to get this fixed if it can be done, as I really enjoyed playing the synth for the brief time I was able. I am in the ironic situation that I would really like to purchase it but I am afraid to because I fear I will be unable to get it to work correctly.
Thanks for consideration, Rob R
Still Having Trouble Installing Diva

Ok, first off, using the installer to install the plugin into Program Files and the data into Documents should indeed be very simple and straight forward.
Now lets try to figure out what happens.
First of all, locate your Diva.data and check if the presets are there. Just look at this directoy:
../Diva.data/Presets/Diva/
This should be full of presets and preset folders. If not, simply run the installer, untick plugins and just install presets.
#---
The other issue can arise from running a host as administrator or not. It's possible that for whatever reason there's another hidden data folder accessible by directoy roaming, which IMHO is the most confusing thing Microsoft came up with ever. Before going into details, please check if running the host as Administrator gives you different results than running with normal user rights. (I can't solve this issue from my iPad/sofa combination anyway, will need to go to studio first)
#---
Next, is there a difference between using 32-bit and 64-bit install of Diva?
#---
Lastly, is there a woods for trees problem maybe... can you send me a screenshot of the preset page to urs at u-he dot com
Cheers,
Urs
