MAnalzyer / Sonogram Help?

Hello,

I recently purchased a few plugins which include the MAnalyzer.

I am trying to understand the Sonogram. I clearly understand the frequencies label laid out from left to right.

However,

I do not understand the dB level of the frequences. How am I supposed to know what dB certain frequencies are?

It throws me off because it's the dB are laid out from -60dB at the bottom to 0dB at the top , but the frequencies are all moving to the top as a song is being played back. So I don't know how to read that.

Sonograms are used in order to check certain frequencies stay at a certain dB level ?

Sonogram do NOT use the vertical axis, which is for analyzer. Vertical line is time in whatever units. The dB level is defined by color. This is the only way to display "frequency + level + time" on just 2-dimensional display.
