Huge Diva error

I have had so many issues with Diva and I continue to have them. It is my favorite synth that I own but i'm getting really frustrated with how buggy it is. It crashes my cubase on a regular basis. Just now I played a patch and a high pitch tone emitted from my speakers non stop out of nowhere and my system usage in my task manager went up to 97 percent. Cubase is frozen. It wasn't even on divine mode it was on draft mode. i have an i7 chip 16 gigs of ram. Can I please talk to someone on the phone about this? Or can an update please be put out. If you search my name on here you'll see that i've reported countless bugs. I keep updating to new versions and these problems continue on my system. I want to use Diva constantly and on everything but these bugs are preventing me from doing so. I just produced a track on the number 1 album on iTunes right now using Diva for the main synth pad. I love this synth but PLEASE make this thing stable. It's driving me nuts.

Hmmm... I don't think you should assume that Diva is generally faulty. Have you reported your problems here:

Just a suggestion to see where the problem is coming from.
If you try using another daw.
If you don't have one, try this
http://www.reaper.fm/download.php
If troubles do not exist on the other daw, then it's narrowed down slightly.
If you do the support email thing, make sure to include all the extra info, like soundcard used, and the things you've tried already to fix the issue.
Whether or not it only happens in Cubase, or if it doesn't happen in some alternative daw.
It is completely stable on my system, but if it wasn't I would try some different things to resolve it.
What have you tried to do to figure the troubles out so far?

You don't need to set up an account or remember account details to send a message.ddeez wrote:Thanks for the quick response. I tried entering in my email address but it says it's not valid. First off, when you say "crashing", do you mean that Cubase quits, or that error messages appear on the screen? Or do you mean that for whatever reason the cpu is frozen for a few seconds?
Then, if you freeze the tracks with Diva, does it still happen?
In any case, please do the following:
- create new project in Cubase
- create a Diva instance
- in Diva, save a preset "ddeez debug one"
- locate that preset and send it to support@u-he.com
Thanks,

Have the same problem on Studio One 2.Diva crashes very often...actually it frozes the host and I must restart the computer. It's on a stable win 7 32 bit system.I noticed that if I have 2 or 3 instances of Diva(but only 1 playing) crashing happens more often.I don't use cpu consuming presets...1 layer mono and quality set to great or lower most of the time. When I freeze the track it's ok but I can't work like that. Also Diva misses few midi notes from time to time. Please Urs can you check that out

Hey Urs sorry for late response. Just emailed you that debug preset from my email.
For crashing a variety of things can happen but what's happening a lot recently is that Cubase will freeze. My system usage in my taskbar will go up to 97 percent and I won't be able to close cubase. I'm not able to restart my computer in windows either i have to do it by pressing the button on my pc. Sometimes a really high pitch noise will start coming out of Cubase when this all happens. Sometimes not.
Like selfik said I always have 3 Diva instances open when I start my cubase session (it's in my template). I used to have them spread out on my template between Cubase and Vienna Ensemble Pro but like i was telling you before VEP can't find Diva anymore so I have to put them all in Cubase. I have a very fast system, i7 chip, 16 gigs of ram, 32 bit cubase, and my system can handle 3 divas in terms of processing, but this keeps happening.
Another thing I notice is that it's more prone to mess up when i change the buffer settings while im working on my lynx aes16e soundcard. When I'm just working on sounds and not playing anything I'll have it at 1024. When I play stuff I'll have it at 128 or 64. Like I said my system can handle that in terms of processing power, I run plenty of other plugins like that. And Diva works fine like that sometimes, but sometimes it goes crazy.
Thanks in advance, I really want to get this sorted out.

Urs,
I've been getting the exact same kinds of things described above; I mean, Diva is crashing Cubase HARD. Frozen cursor, have to manually restart the system, the whole nine yards. I also get horribly loud impulses of digital noise from my FF400 that max the channels.
I don't know what's causing this, but it's definitely Diva that's the trigger. As soon as a Diva part comes in, huge crash. Usually, voice 1 seems to be the one doing it.
I wish I could provide more detailed information at the moment, but I have to get some rest. I'll be back at this as time permits. Hopefully we can figure out what's doing this. It is also my favorite synth currently, but it's definitely not playing nice with Cubase 6.5.0/6.5.1 at the moment.
It may be my particular system... I just bought an SSD, so I'll be reinstalling the whole studio here briefly...
But, I got an SSD!
I have to always look on the bright side, you see... at least half of making electronic music seems like providing tech support to oneself, mostly by seeking out answers on forums like this one and experimenting till you get to the bottom of it.

I'm getting 500db spikes...this is crazy
Im getting those explosive sounds, too. Noise bursts of several 100s dbs.
I'm using Diva 1.01 in demo mode.
Apart from the noise bursts, it is wonderful sounding synth
(And I'm usually not interested in any synths!)

Yeah, it just keeps doing it, seemingly at random when I open the same project. I was just placing bets in my head as to whether or not it'd do it this time. I lost--it did it. This time, it made all the audio go scratchy and maxed out the VST meter.
Man, oh man, I wish I could use this synth! Any project I have it in it seems to eventually take down with it. Such a bummer--it's my favorite synth at the moment, even with these issues. The sound quality is just off the charts.
Urs, any ideas why this is happening to all of us?

I'm using Diva fine with Cubase on a core i7 920, multiple instances.
But thats with Cubase 5.5.1 32-bit. Could everyone thats experience this so far confirm the Cubase version no. and whether its the 32 or 64-bit version with 32 or 64-bit version of Diva loaded.
Perhaps an issue with the 64-bit version?.

Please try this internal build:
http://www.u-he.com/downloads/Diva/Diva556Mac.zip
http://www.u-he.com/downloads/Diva/Diva556Win.zip
Note that Multicore does not work properly in this build, but noise brusts etc. are history. We hope.
