I am considering purchasing either Effectrix or Turnado. I mainly record grime and dubstep and I will use effects for recording only, not live use.

Which do any users feel is better suited for home recording?

Any help is appreciated.

If you want to carefully sequence your FX - put them exactly where and when you want them, then get Effectrix.

If you want hands-on Live mashup fun get Turnado.

Both are excellent for their purpose.

Demoed Effectrix and bought after 10 minutes. Love it already.

Both great, I had Effectrix and I have Turnado(I'd have to become homeless before I'd sell Turnado, no offense to Effectrix, mind you)

I did this with Turnado using my mouse:

Turnado must be controlled per automation (there is only a bit help with "Dictator" which is a bit like a scene-fader for different effects. It's also designed to be used as a live effect (map a controller eg. to the dictator and move stuff realtime).

Effectrix is a effect sequencer, don't needs automation. For your use I would think Effectrix it's the better solution.
Effectrix is also used by Simon Posford (Shpongle, Hallucinogen, Younger Brother), so you get an idea...

Besides this both, Audiodimage Bigseq2 is another option. But this was not the question, so only an additional note to eventually give it a try too ;)

Did someone clearly answer your question ? Thanks.

For live beatmangling and sampling Turnado is the best. You can hit random on the setup screen (to give you 8 random effects), then hit random on the Dictator screen (to give you a random mapping), and move the controller up and down. It won't take long for you to find something musically useful and interesting in all this chaos. I'll keep doing that for half an hour and cut out the best bits from the session, instant glitch madness :)

Effectrix for me is more about working glitches and effects into the arrangement and breakdown/buildup of a track.

I ended up buying Effectrix. It's a great tool, but I find that I don't use it that much.

But, it's probably just down to my lack of creativity and the stye of music I make.

If you think you will use it regularly then it's well worth the money.
