Help/advise/feedback needed for a Gate effect Mux

I'm trying to make a Gate effect.

I'm not entirely sure if i'm doing the right thing.
So, if anyone is up to it, any feedback, advise, how to is welcome.

What I'm actually doing in this Mux is to mix the original signal with a compressed and phase reversed signal. If the compressor is not working (at low audio signals) original and compressed parts will cancel out.

Can we try this on vocals or is it for instrumental only ????
