Stuck notes with Zebra

Hi Urs, I'm demoing Zebra in Logic 9.1.6 on OSX 10.6.8 and getting random stuck notes when switching presets. The only way to get them unstuck is making Zebra inactive and then activating again.

You can temporarily change the global "Voices" setting instead.
(yes, it is a rather annoying bug-ette - destined to be fixed)

It's the only thing that drives me crazy (in a bad way) about U-he products. It happens so often that I've programmed a button on my keyboard to send MIDI CC 120 (all sound off). It seems to do a complete reset and always works. It's much easier than the other workarounds that I've seen posted.
Cheers

Is there a time-scale for this, it seems to have remained unfixed for a veeery long time now.Howard wrote:You can temporarily change the global "Voices" setting instead.

If you stop playing first, then change the patch, it shouldn't do it.ExtremeXS wrote:It's driving me nuts too whilst browsing presets.
I'll try and see if I can assign a controller somewhere.
It only happens to me on the rare occasion, of holding down a note, while changing to another patch. So it's avoidable.
While I hope it will be fixed, from reading before about that problem.
It seems it's rather difficult to fix for some reason...not a simple task.

Could be different keyboard behavior? Most of my keys are variations on M-Audio. A note event looks like:
17:55:39.866 From Oxygen 61 Note On 1 48 $48
17:55:39.992 From Oxygen 61 Note Off 1 48 $00
Instead of a true Note-off, I think it's sending a note with Vol of Zero. Seems odd but I know it's a common approach. Note events from a Korg look different :
17:56:00.703 From Port B Note On 1 48 $5D
17:56:00.817 From Port B Note Off 1 48 $40
so maybe that's why it's not a universal problem.
Bottom line - If you're affected - It's not a "bug-ette" or a minor annoyance and it's been around since at least August 2011.

Yeah I was aware of that, it's when I am skipping through presets with the cursor key on one finger and playing at the same time, inevitably at some point I press the cursor down whilst a keys not fully up.mcnoone wrote: If you stop playing first, then change the patch, it shouldn't do it.

Which is how I trawl through the presets to get the right sound - it's a major f**king bug and the fact that freeware and new products have been released but this hasn't been sorted is irritating.ExtremeXS wrote: Yeah I was aware of that, it's when I am skipping through presets with the cursor key on one finger and playing at the same time, inevitably at some point I press the cursor down whilst a keys not fully up.

It's not that easy. We've only recently - after numerous problems with Windows XP in earlier attempts - added the new MIDI Queue to Diva. Which so far seems fine, but people still experience stuck notes there too, despite more than a week of bugfixing just that.re_mute wrote:Which is how I trawl through the presets to get the right sound - it's a major f**king bug and the fact that freeware and new products have been released but this hasn't been sorted is irritating.ExtremeXS wrote: Yeah I was aware of that, it's when I am skipping through presets with the cursor key on one finger and playing at the same time, inevitably at some point I press the cursor down whilst a keys not fully up.

Once we eliminate the remaining stuck notes with Diva, we can start to merge Zebra's voice handling with Diva's. Which is a major surgery, but from then on all our synth will have the same voice management code, and Zebra will finally be able to feature voice stacking. And Diva/ACE/FilterscapeVA will finally be able to switch presets without loud intermittent noise.
