is... Looking at all the crazy cabling in your patches and thinking to yourself "I did that... and I knew what I was doing..."

I've had that experience with an ACE patch with no cables too.

If I know you Sendy, you've gone where no man (or woman) has gone before (that's a good thing also).
But me, I'm still around...oh...the 50% unexpected result phase

I'm still experimenting myself, lol. Audiorate stuff is hard to really predict, so my approach to that kind of synthesis is more to try different stuff and frame the successful experiments (whilst discarding the abominations, hehe). Of course a reasonable knowledge of synthesis is required to steer things in the right direction, and make the best of things, but I await the day when I reach HS levels of awesome

In all fairness, as much as I love ACE, some aspects of the GUI could be a little less confusing... somehow... maybe?. Working out how to do some of the special stuff with for example the LFOs took me a bit of time (and a few replays of the video tutorials and readthroughs of parts of the manual).GruvSyco wrote:Really wish I could relate to this. For a while I remember the cables weren't delivering for me, so I'd recommend you do some simple patching at first, to build up confidence. That's what I did, anyway. Simple things like sending the LFO various (non-hardwired) places, setting up filter FM from the oscillators, etc. Every time you make a connection and stuff happens, you gain confidence and experience

I would never even dream of reaching that level, but honestly, you are well on your way Sendy!Sendy wrote:but I await the day when I reach HS levels of awesome

One thing I like about the cables is they are automatable which means in my Kore template I can cycle through all available connections for each cable using one knob. I use this a lot when designing patches (which is why I have made over 200 of them so far)

Well I hate to break it to you but in all honesty unless you are using these cables

you are really not getting a really high quality sound and just wasting your time.

I'd heard of this before, but I still think it's amazing - almost like a paradigm shift in modular synth tech.aMUSEd wrote:One thing I like about the cables is they are automatable which means in my Kore template I can cycle through all available connections for each cable using one knob. ... while I was doing it. Afterwards, I usually have no idea what the hell I was thinking while patching away. All I see is cables, cables, cables. But it always works, somehow.Sendy wrote:is... The whole system actually costs less than the cables! For real?
