Update, April 4th: Version 2.0 was released on the App Store, with major tracking improvementds
Update: VST/AU version now beta testing. See this thread.
Hello KVR
I have been living under a rock for 5 years, and lurking these forums once
in a while to keep up. Now, I'd like to show what I've been up to...
MIDI Guitar is the world's first app to transcribe guitar playing into MIDI
with latency and accuracy comparable to inconvenient hardware solutions.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oX6za1gJ2gQ
MIDI guitar is 5 years under development(!) and based upon patent-
pending polyphonic pitch detection and -prediction technology that can
accurately recognize polyphonic signals, such as complex chords or finger-
playing with very low latency and without spurious hits.
MIDI Guitar use WIFI-MIDI to communicate with digital audio workstations
in a frictionless setup, or cable-based MIDI for lowest possible latency.
It also drives other iOS synth apps using Apple's Virtual MIDI standard.
In order to use MIDI Guitar you need an iPhone 4s, iPad 2 or 3 or iPod
4th generation. You also need a guitar interface for best results.
Using an acoustic guitar with the built in microphone works for some
purposes but is not optimal.
Link to MIDI Guitar on the App Store (universal iPhone/iPad app)
The app is FREELY available for evaluation with built in piano sounds.
MIDI output (WIFI-MIDI, Virtual-MIDI and Cable-MIDI) is offered as an
in-app purchase.
There is still room for improvement, but we hope some of you will already
find this first version useful.
Best

Very interesting! I look forward to giving it a try. I'm curious why you decided to develop this for iOS though. It seems like the primary audience for this would be DAW users, in which case a VSTi implementation would make more sense. Either way, thanks for all your hard work, and I'll try it out tonight.

Wow! Very interesting. I have an iPod Touch but no interface..might be worth getting one for this app....

Likewise I'd like to confirm it'd work with a dock connector type interface first though.Teksonik wrote:Wow! Very interesting. I have an iPod Touch but no interface..might be worth getting one for this app....
Anyway, looks fantastic - I suggest posting in the Mobile Apps and Hardware forum

Sounds good and I definately would have alot of fun with it not a doubt about that, I don't have anything iOS though, Still even if a native implemtation does not happen its great to see/hear things done with a lack of cables all over the place and is more reason to continue considering getting an iPad eventually
Thanks and hope it sells well/takes off as it deserves to do so

Seriously?
We have realtime polyphonic pitch tracking on the Ipad before the PC?
Am I missing something here?!

Very cool demo / idea. Like others, a desktop plugin is the preferred format.

+1 on the vst version as I don't buy any i-products.
Would be interested to know how this compares to the sonuus , which I bought, and have never used as it is useless. I tend to just use my YRG while I wait for the Fishman midi unit to be released.
