Synthmaster and Kore

Hi...
Today, I purchased Synthmaster 2.5, but have discovered that it doesn't play well when running in Kore 2 as the host. It appears that the note-on note-off MIDI messages do not always make it to the synth, and therefore sometimes I experience no sound when hitting a key, whereas other times the sound doesn't stop after releasing the key, and I have to hit the MIDI panic button.
Synthmaster seems to run well under other host (Ableton Live), but it's unusable with Kore. I don't experience this behavior under Kore with any other soft synth, however.
Is anyone running Synthmaster with Kore 2? Is this a known problem/incompability?

I tried but it has other problems in Kore as well, particularly the lack of automation smoothing makes it impossible to use with the controller (without getting steppy sounds). I have had the note off problem too sporadically.

Could you send me a midi file that causes trouble in Kore2? This way I can try to identify the issue(s)GMoneh wrote: Is anyone running Synthmaster with Kore 2? Is this a known problem/incompability?

I think he's talking about getting this just playing the keyboard.

That is correct, this is no MIDI file. I use Kore mainly for performance, so the behavior I described is while playing live. I tried several MIDI controllers with the same result, so that's not the issue.
aMUSEd, I know you are a heavy Kore 2 user... have you experienced something like what I am describing?

EDIT: Sorry, hadn't seen your reply immediately after my original post. I see that indeed you have. That's too bad

Yeah, in fact I reported it maybe a couple of years back. I thought it was fixed though, but I haven't really been using Synthmaster in Kore due to the steppiness of the controls which make it pointless.

I fixed a couple of hanging notes issues in the past year. But bear in mind that I can not test my fix will all the VST hosts. I have Reaper, StudioOne, ProTools, Ableton Live as my main DAWs to test my fixes.aMUSEd wrote:Yeah, in fact I reported it maybe a couple of years back. It's a shame that Synthmaster won't work with Kore... the synth sounds good, and given all its modulation capabilities, it would really be suited as a performance synth within the Kore environment.
I understand your limitations of hosts, and I know that Kore 2 has been discontinued by NI. But there are still plenty of Kore users out there. So if you were interested in further pursuing this bug, let me offer my setup as a "guinea pig" environment. If you have any debug version that would like me to try, so it could dump any diagnostics info I could send back to you, or be of any additional help, just let me know. PM me and I'll send you my email address. I'm really interested in getting Synthmaster 2 to work with Kore 2.

That's a pity because the smoothing issue was brought up well before Kore was discontinued and there was an opportunity during the development for the last 2-3 updates to Kore for this problem to be ironed out, but sadly that window of opportunity has now passed.GMoneh wrote:It's a shame that Synthmaster won't work with Kore... the synth sounds good, and given all its modulation capabilities, it would really be suited as a performance synth within the Kore environment.

However it can still be tested - these issues don't occur with other plugins so there must be a solution possible. We have ourselves to test them.

Kore2 has a software version right? I'll start out with that

Some more information that might or might not be related to the previously reported problem...
I started testing Mutools MUX, mainly because of Synthmaster's refusal to work in Kore, and I really want to be able to use it in a modular environment.
But turns out the synth doesn't behave well within MUX either! The symptoms are different, though. Instead of dropped or stuck notes, I get an unusually high latency, which makes the instrument unplayable. It's not audio latency, though, but rather MIDI latency: Synthmaster doesn't produce the sound until several milliseconds after a key in the keyboard is pressed. Needless to say, this is the only synth that behaved like this under this environment of all that I tested.
As I said, I don't know if the problem might or might not be related to the one I reported with Kore earlier, but I thought it might be relevant, given that of the two non-DAW hosts I have tried, the synth doesn't work correctly in either.

Is MUX using fixed sized buffers or variable size? If variable size then there'll be a delay.
I'll test it this weekend and get back to you. Havent used it before at all.
