Hi,
I just discovered Synthmaster while looking for an efficient, easy and effective tool for use with the Galbanum Architecture waves. I was delighted to see how well SM was able to see load and play the waveforms.
However, I was disappointed by the analog filter in that more often than not there is blatant "stepping" while sweeping.
I have alchemy which loads the waveforms, but i find the interface distracting, the sound so-so and unlike SM there is no waveform viewer.
It would be nice to use SM instead for standard patch making but that stepping is killing me.
Any chance there will be improvements such as implementing the zero delay feedback that is such a hot topic right now?
Ive seen debates about it but wherever I have seen it implemented the filters just sound great.
Thanks

Update: Pilot error.
Just discovered I was in draft mode. Still demoing. Wasnt aware of the quality settings,
Apologies.
Great synth btw.

Stepping while moving the cutoff with your mouse?
The stepping does NOT have ANYTHING to do with using or not using "zero delay feeedback" filters!
Please click on "Settings" tab, and increase the value of "Mouse Filter Lag" Try to increase it to around 150 ms. This will solve your steppines problem! (The same applies to MIDI CC Lag as well, while moving MIDI controllers)

Hey man, no need for the shouting and caps. I updated my post long before you posted admitting to pilot error - i was in draft mode. And no it wasnt with the mouse and I wasnt getting any CC lag after I switched to a higher quality setting.kv331 wrote:Stepping while moving the cutoff with your mouse?

Why are so many of you guys so touchy about 0df anyway?

Sorry for the misunderstanding, I did not intend to shout, was just trying to emphasizeDonmich wrote: Hey man, no need for the shouting and caps. Regarding the stepping: Did you hear it when you modulated the cutoff with an ADSR envelope? I'm asking because we had long discussions on filter stepping, and I did my best to eliminate them.
The stepping has to do with at what rate you increase the cutoff internally in the algorithm. By default it's 2 samples, when you use quality >= good of course it should sound better regarding stepping.

No worries.
No, I was getting the stepping in draft mode using a midi controller. But it went away when I increased the quality. At which point it sounded really nice.

I see. increasing the MIDI CC Lag can also fix this, even at draft mode!Donmich wrote:No worries.

I didn't know about this, I must have missed it...I have noticed the same issue for a while now, but I will check it out after work today to see if it helps.kv331 wrote:Stepping while moving the cutoff with your mouse?

I used the shift key + moving the mouse to get finer control over it, but then you can't do a quick sweep of the filter that way.
Seems like that Mouse Filter Lag setting should be at that setting by default (if it helps), instead of having to go in and change it. Is there a reason it is at a lower setting at first? Just wondering... Thanks Bulent!

I just tried it and it made it really chunky, weird... like there was TOO much delay, and so it wasn't smooth at all, made it worse.Examigan wrote:I didn't know about this, I must have missed it...I have noticed the same issue for a while now, but I will check it out after work today to see if it helps.kv331 wrote:Stepping while moving the cutoff with your mouse?

I guess I'll just change it back and deal with it.
