Hello Vojtech,

When the filters in the delay processor are filtering the feedback, and the feedback is low to off, my CPU is going up when there is no signal running through it. As soon as I send a signal through it, my CPU drops. This only happens when oversampling is set to 1x. If you raise the oversampling, CPU actually decreases, until you get to about 14x. :?

Edit: I'm on WinXP running Reaper 32bit

Aaaah, that could be denormalization, I'll check. What CPU do you have?

It's a Intel quad core Q9650 @ 3.00GHz.

Hello Vojtech, I've just found that the 'Filter' processor has the same CPU issue as the 'Delay'. Have you found the problem. Is it denormalisation like you said?

Post

I didn't get to it yet, next week, promise! :)

Ok, so I checked and unfortunately found nothing. Though I'm running on i7 and i3 here, so maybe your old CPU is doing that. Are there some specific circumstances I need to test? E.g. is it enough for me to open a new project, insert the delay with feedback filter and that's all? I can add some "precautions", but it's like alchemy when I cannot actually check if it does something.

One more thing - in delay's feedback it would make sense, so I'll add the protection anyway, but in filter? No idea...

Edit: ajjj, found it! It does that, not sure why yet, but shall be fixed :)

Oh good, I'm glad you've discovered it. Did it do it with the filter processor aswell? I just insert a filter and send some audio through it, then stop it and wait a few seconds for the CPU to rise. Make sure that the filter is closed a bit too.

I'd say that it is important to fix the filter aswell, because it's using about 3 times as much CPU as it should do. This is with no upsampling. Everything is fine when upsampling is used.

Cheers!

Yes! Both of them! Actually it seems like the processor is not responding to some optimizations well enough. Anyway it seems fine now ;).

Well that's good news, I look forward to the update. Thanks very much! :D
