I am looking for a tutorial, or something that goes into more detail than the couple of pages in the Users Guide. Any recommendations for learning the Zebra arp? I am a synth programming noob .. so, it's not intuitive. Appreciate any pointers, or recommendations. I've been experimenting with it, and trying different things - but suspect that there is a lot, that I am missing...

Thanks

I should have titled this more appropriately (maybe added a question mark? - Maybe folks are coming to the thread thinking there is a new tutorial? If so -- there are others interested in more explanation of the arp settings. :help:

There are no additional write-ups outside the user guide? (I found a couple.. but they are less how-to, and more "art of the possible"

I asked a dumb question, and folks are being polite :) Am continuing to go through experimentation with the arp settings, and having some luck -- but still suspect, there is stuff I am missing...

Am still quite open to suggestions on learning the settings.

Cheers

open zebra, audition the arps, look at the settings.
If you have to ask, you can't afford the answer

Don't know of any...

What do you want to know? I think the manual describes the different functions.

Thanks for the input. I guess, I just don't know what I don't know - and suspect there is a lot more to the controls than meet the eye. Wonder if I am missing capabilities like modulating with the ArpMod settings and getting some magic that more advanced sound designers understand, etc. Like I said originally - I am a nOOb with this stuff, and while I think there is a lot that can be gained by fiddling with settings, I would benefit from more tutorials and explanation of setting things up. Understanding the nuances of applying swing to the arp, and/or the LFOs, at the same time ,etc. Probably basic stuff for most others - but I am trying to grasp what I can, and cannot accomplish with the arp.

There are no shortcuts IMHO - you need to spend the time experimenting! I can't think how a tutorial (or two) about the arp/seq would be helpful, because in this case it's much more about making music than making sounds.

OK, thx Howard. I'll keep plugging away then. My post wasn't necessarily a knock on your help file, but looking for more examples, etc. In any case, I understand what you're saying about digging in, and working through the settings.

BTW the arp/seq often surprises me - the analytical part of my brain says "how the hell is it doing THAT?" but (fortunately) the non-analytical part soon responds with "whatever... as long as it sounds good!"
