I got all turned around in another thread about the Filterscape VA. Actually just hijacked the thread in a way.
Anyways feeling like after all this talk I ought to offer an example track or two using the instrument.
Here is a track using 3 instances of the Filterscape processing
Chromaphone soft marimba sound.
ACE playing a Bass sound
Maschine drum track
Filterscape VA played live.
Some trash 2 on the Marimba
Some 2C B2 reverb.

Thanks for the positive comment!pdxindy wrote:I quite enjoyed your track! Thanks for posting... and yes, I enjoy hearing examples of what people talk about
I'm going to work intensely with Filterscape this next week so I expect I'll make few more (improved?) examples..
I think that using it in a subtle way over long streaches with ostinatos is effective as well as coloring on Drum tracks.
The Filterscape VA with snapshot loops is a little tricky as you have to have an arrangement/compositions where long notes lasting one or several bars each can fit in. I think and work melodically so this Filtershaping technique has to be handeled in a new way for me seems like melodic use of drones is how to best describe this, Drones=Harmonic ground tone held over minimum 8 bars, Melodic Lines=Local colour and shaping moving in upto 1/2 or max whole notes. That is to say it's somewhat at crosspurposes if things move too quickly and you can't hear the filter morphing movement, move slowly and it dominates too much, it has to be played quietly and the effect is lost... Some learning to do here i guess..

Thanks Crackbaby! Ya video is the next big thing I have to learn..
Here's a new Chill out track using:
Diva into Filterscape, into Trash 2 into 2C B2 filterscape's Delay mix amount is modulated
ACE bassline into Filterscape, into B2
Filterscape VA (with pitchbend) modulation of Delay mix amount
Maschine into Filterscape.

Really been working with Filterscape VA and Filtercape effects this time with:
Padshop pro going into Trash 2 into one channel, then a dry signal going into another channel these two signals are then alternately crossfaded and being sent into one instance of Filterscape then out through B2
ACe playing another bass going into Filterscape then into B2
2 mono midi sequences getting sent alternetly into one instance of a Filterscape VA
One instance of Maschine with one group loaded going into a mixer so I can to crossfades between a "dry" signal and the Filterscape effected channel
One instance of the Filterscape VA played live, no edits so forgive the lame sections if you can...
It's all pretty raw and ready for demo purposes and to find my way around the sonic possiblities.. I promise once I learn the ropes I'll post a more polished track at the end of this search and destroy mission into Filterscape Land..

As mention earlier in this thread I am working intensely with Filterscape this week. So now I've got another track this time I'm using Filtercape VA's exclusively as sound generators except one instance of Maschine..
6 tracks of Filterscape VA, 2 of the tracks have 3 instances of the VA alternating Between each other at parallel pitch intervals with some overlap.
The VA's outputs are sent into additional Filterscape effect processing, and in one track (arp) I've applied some distortion using Trash 2
The whole thing is done in Numerology Pro 3. Where I modulate 7 mono sequencers parameters, as well as trigger the sequencers start and stop points sometimes with double tiered control that is the Main triggers trigger a subsiduary gate trigger that then plays the sequencer in CV trigger Gate modus on the individual sequencers..
Did some pitch modulation using Gates and Envelopes in Numerology.
The whole thing is captured at the Numerology output into Audio Hijack pro, where I have a compressor as well as an extra instance of Filterscape effect with very small mix amount or bypassed, Fab filters Pro Q to tame some peaks and bass as well as an instance of Valhalla Room adding som reverberation.

Thanks, I'm going to keep exploring Filterscape in the next few days. I want to get a real understanding of what it does, so I'm sending more distorted sounds in that like white noise are really revealing as to what is happening with the frequency content of the signal...pdxindy wrote:Excellent stuff! New track:
This is layer upon layer, setup in Numerology so it's a shifty type of working method. I end up with something that I can't recognize as something that I created:
All Filterscape VA's and Filterscape effects with the various techniques described in the earlier posts in this thread.
It's contains more layers than the previous examples, is more filled, still minimalistic in away as the many details rise and fall between the line between direct perception and the veiled the hidden masking of the distortion "curtain" these hidden details can perhaps still be registered in a sub consious way.
It's an unerving unsettling sound universe most could be suitable to one of the Documentary films on the dark side of the Natural world like weather anomalies natural distructive forces and so on. I like listen to this stuff and get transported to another dimension...

Great work there!
Stop tempting me to get this...
Though now i probably will when i hit my next ambient period
Stop tempting me to get this...
