Compatibility with Scala files for microtonal scales?

Hi All!
Warren Burt here. Just wondering - do you have any plans to implement compatibility with Scala files so that the TX16x can play microtonal scales? Many synths/samplers have this, so it might be not too difficult to implement. (If you want more information on this, just write to me at waburt(at)melbourne.dialix.com.au and I'll be happy to give you more information.
Thanks and cheers,
Warren

I'm somewhat skeptical as to how many people really find this a useful feature. TX16Wx supports simple, uniform, alternate scalings (1/2, 1/4, 2, 4, etc) out of the box. (In truth, I should probably just have made the scaling attribute a "cent per half-tone" value from start. The reason its an enumeration is only that the original TX16Wx used this variant.)
In general, as long as we're talking a uniform cent per half-tone scaling, it is indeed very easy to implement and support. However, once we start talking about irregular scales you would suddenly have to handle it... how? Table lookups + interpolation?
Basically, if enough people ask for it, I might build it.
Cheers

Okay, I ask for it.-) Remembering my old Ensoniq-Sampler, it really makes a difference. Setting the startfrequency is enough. Free C++ code here: http://www.mark-henning.de/am_downloads ... aMark_Misc

I ask for compatibility with Scala files for microtonal scales, too.

Old old topic to resurrect.
TX v3 supports micro tuning via mts-esp. Install the free mts-esp mini client (https://oddsound.com/mtsespmini.php) and you can load scala and other tuning setups and have TX use this scale.

I just saw about MTS-ESP support and the MTS-ESP mini client right before I saw your reply, and I was going to post here saying that and saying "nevermind." Thanks for replying. And thank you for the great software TX16Wx.

Any idea why MTS-ESP might not be working with TX16Wx in Logic? It shows it is connected in MTS-ESP and I have it enabled in the sampler but the tuning has no effect. Also I am getting intermittent loud (300db) noise spikes. I was able to load and map the samples and it sounds great (apart from the spikes) and I think it was working with MTS at first but now doesn't at all.elcallio wrote: Thu Feb 23, 2023 9:12 pm Old old topic to resurrect.![]()

You need to provide more info if I am to guess anything. MTS works fine on Mac for me, but the "spikes" thing sound ominous... Can you send me the sample set (and patch you created) (support [at] tx16wx.com), so I can look at them? I don't really have access to Logic, so TX program, if possible...
