Recording routed midi

I have this vst plugin from Audio Damage called Axon that has MIDI output control for driving external synths, etc. and I'm wondering how to set it up in MuLab so that it drives an external synth and MuLab is recording the MIDI notes that are received from it.

I'm able to record the audio of the synth it drives, but not the midi so I must be doing something wrong :?

There are only three ways to do so since MuLab doesn't support Midi recording from a hosted source:

1. Use a virtual midi cable like loopmidi or loobe

2. Use a plugin, which can record midi routed to it

3. Use a rewire sequencer like Reaper, Live, Reason etc...

All of these methods you have to setup in the session MUX or wired up in a MUX inserted on a track...

Ask, if you need help for the setup...

If you check out the Noatikl thread from last week, I had similar issues. I used Maple midi router to make the midi connections between the vst and Mulab in Windows.

Still not possible within all the flexibility of feature-laden MUX?! I'm actually surprised :o I remember I (and others, like janamdo) had the same kind of issues in M3 and thought this would be possible by now.

Thanks for the info guys, really appreciated. I will try Maple then for now, thanks for the suggestion. :)

At Jo: Please take note of this as a FR if it's not already on the list (I'm pretty sure it is). Many plugins that output midi to other plugins (arps, sequencers, etc) and it would be really nice to be able to record the midi in such configurations. Thanks.

It indeed is on the wishlist. I agree it's an important FR. Sorry it's not yet there.

Good to know, thank you!
