one easy thing you can do to improve this product is in the browser categories create an all category in all your subcategories. When you want to see them all what are you going to do? You click rock then your trapped and can only click on another genre type. I would also like to see an online forum were we could post patches and that sort of thing I am new to this program and forum here so maybe this has already been mentioned.
Love the product so far really digging the Nori presets they are everything I have dreamed of discovering in a virtual synth product and I would love to see way more of this type of preset development.
EDM and trance is boring mindless drivel the sounds may be okay but no real musician is ever going to want his music labeled as trance or EDM so they will avoid using any sounds that evoke that comparison. So we do need to really make it easier for us prog rock musicians to find sounds. Creating a favorites is cool as well but a preset hell category for those we never want to hear again should also keep the experience of using synthmaster more enjoyable.
We prog rockers typically do not waste time with listening to every sound in a library if the first 20 sounds suck right out of the gate or if they are totally not right for the kind of sound we are after plus you might want to create a new category called prog rock and or art rock because that is what most of Nori's patches for Yes ELP Genesis UK King Crimson and Pink Floyd etc... need to be labeled as.
While a lot of the patches in the trance and EDM community are capable of being used in prog rock the issue is now do we as prog rock musican's want to evoke that sort of emotion that people associate with hearing those kinds of sounds. I personally do not and would be careful not to use those sounds unless they were extremely bad ass and universal bread and butter type sounds that crossed all genres.
Dance music is generally speaking anti prog rock. When I grew up in the disco era I hated it. Having to listen to that kind of music at every party I went to it might as well have been country and western to me.
I grew up listening to the greats in prog rock I just mentioned in this post and I saw YES numerous times including the time they had lasers hitting everyone in the audience and people in the audience were getting high on the music without the need for strong drugs like kids today use. The entire audience was oohing and ahhing like they were having a major orgasm.
You won't see that happen today.Yes may never be matched on this level by any other act ever and yes I have seen Dream Theater but to be honest they are way too much metal for me to call it prog from a purist stand point and their sound has degraded over the years becoming to predictable were YES was so unpredictable you never knew what direction that band was going to go.
Of course the DT guys do lots of side band stuff to get their prog rocks off on so that may be why. I think they are consciously riding that wave of popularity and afraid to mess with their formula for success and that is sad unless of course they feel that kind of sound is something they just can't live without it and they have to rely on it like a crutch to come up with new ideas.
Maybe we need to have a prog rock foundation to help honor and protect the spirit of prog rock / art rock. I would be very upset if we started a category for art and prog rock and all of a sudden we had all manner of trashy nonsense from other genres that I consider to be anti prog dumping presets into it.
If you guys could create sub categories for major acts from the era like YES, ELP, KANSAS, PINK FLOYD, KING CRIMSON, STYX, SAGA, GENESIS, PROCUL HARUM, MOODY BLUES, DEEP PURPLE, LED ZEPPELIN, JETHRO TULL, STARCASTLE, DREAM THEATER, RAINBOW, UFO, SYMPHONY X, CIRCUS MAXIMUS, AL DI MEOLA, UK, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, QUEEN, URIAH HEEP, TSO/ SAVATAGE, JAN HAMER, NIGHT WISH You get the idea. Some of these might be included under Metal Fusion and or Rock as well.
simple easy browser improvement I see as being very needed
