So, just recently I started having some fun with remixing songs. I've been doing the old fashioned way i guess - I find an acapella version of a popular modern song, get the mp3, and put it into my logic pro. When I start the track, I've been selecting it as "Audio Track" (i'm asssuming that's what suppose to do for this). then i drag the acapella mp3 into the track.. Add addtional tracks, and get my presets and sounds and synths drums and all that fun stuff to mix with it. I just finished remix of "Lights" by Ellie Goulding (which i consider an easy-level beginner song to remix)... I'm in the midst of working on remix for J-Lo's On the Floor.. Anyway, stright to the point... There's a concern. When i try to increase or decrease the tempo - it only changed my other tracks. It won't effect the mp3 song i've converted into the logic? just all the tracks that i've been creating. Is there anyway, i could increase/decrease the tempo of a song of the audio mp3 i put in my logic pro? ...

Also, I'm sure there are other ways for remixing besides finiding acapella online. Although I'm sure that would require someone to extract vocals from melodies/beats outside from a song, which I have no idea how to do. And it seems pretty tedious. Any advice, tips? i think i tried some EQ'ing which was recommended but it didn't do much... Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks ! :)

There should be a way to unlock the clip tempo in logic, it is not my host so I can't be too specific as to how. You might be able to right click on the acappella and find a tempo lock option or something similar in logic.

Besides finding acappellas online, you can also find a song and its instrumental version, invert the instrumental version in a project with the original and phase cancellation should isolate the vocals.
